Webair : It's amazing how people are scared to give negative comments about them.

It's not like you'll be killed by the Webair nazis (Well, I don't think so). :1orglaugh

Allright, nazis was a bit harsh. Let's say : Followers.

Newbreed ( ArikaAmes.com ) who lost everything after hosting with Webair is also afraid to use the word "Webair".

Moral of the story : Sometimes negative comments can actually HELP getting better. I don't understand why some people are afraid/anxious about telling the truth.

I knew who he was talking about in his part about the mysql server...

"With a location of "REMOVEDBUTMYSERVERNAME.webair.com" it's easy to understand why after i had been told this, then looked at the DB location, I would come to this conclusion."

See the domain?

I think you missed my point. I didn't find out he used Webair because of my telepathic powers. :1orglaugh

I know, your policy is "The client on GFY is always wrong". :winkwink:

BVF 10-04-2005 08:57 AM

If webair ever fucks up, I'll be the first one to complain...But they haven't fucked up yet. At least not with me.

not true at all but i will say alot of the time its a client side issue i just feel GFY should not be used for tech support for hosting companies...i still have yet to hear from new breed...we restored his deal gave him a new drive what more should i do? I called Arika on fri got a totally different vibe/story on the matter and im still waiting to hear from new breed...anyone who hosts with is knows that we are easily accessible.

mission critical is what we are best at =)) if you notice its usually a $9.95 client that's comlaining....

With regards to Arikas dedicated account read above ... not to mention I would advise if your running mission critical you should have a couple of drives and/or a load balanced or raid setup...

can you tell me what LARGE paysites host with you?

pornguy 10-04-2005 09:13 AM

I have said severaltimes that when we tried webair, we had the worst Customer Service that we have ever had. AOL was even better to deal with. I know AOL is not a host, but they are something to compare to for bad CS.

dig420 10-04-2005 09:14 AM

Todd's a nice guy. Webair has no thugs that I'm aware of. Why would someone be afraid to post about them if they've had a problem?

Im sure Todd is a nice guy - but they have overstreched themselves.

Ive seen it again and again how they are a great host - but very poor service.

In the end I just moved my servers away from them.

6 months later, when to be honest I had forgoten who they where, I got an email saying they had cancelled my account.

Oh dear! What a shame.

noone but got any examples of large paysites on webair space since they are mission critical specialists like they say. It seems noone can ask or question webair without being accused of working for another paysite. Pretty funny, insecurity comes to mind

webair is garbage.

phatservers answers support emails within 5 mins.

most of the staff mike has are fucking clueless.

love when the mafia of webair people come to defend how great they are.

all i know is i stuck up for them while mike paid for my sig, even tho the support was crap. i felt bad doing it even tho it was against my will.

the best part was me getting threats froim mike cause i called his host "mediocre"

after i told him to fuck off about hiring me on a monthly basis.

and he knows his servers are fucked up. because he had to hire a team of security people to secure them, after i saved him time by pointing out holes.

so if theirs russians/pakistanis crawling on your servers and your data gets deleted, thats probably why.

but i am sure the admins dont even monitor logs. i know its hard task to tail the auth and messages and security log.

but if mike would hire trained people to ipfw stupid countries. things wouldnt happen like this.

anyways. you picked webair, so its your own fault.

pick a real host.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-04-2005 09:45 AM

LOL...

I have never liked WebAir since they hosted toolbar installers.

They can GF-Themselves.

I have proof still to this day, with screen grabs of Trace routes.
So denial will just make it worse.

newbreed 10-04-2005 09:46 AM

Guys I just got off the phone with Mike and explained the whole thing, he is taking care of us right now and offered to pay for it. I did not intend for the other thread to turn into a Webair bashing thread, they have never done us wrong. This is one of those things that happens and everyone handled it the best they could.

Well put mike.

We host our "mission critical" members area at webair - we have a hardware raid1 setup. IDE drives are flakey guys - if you use them and are mission critical, you simply MUST have a raid1 setup. Yes it costs more, but how much does 4 days of downtime like arika's truely cost in the end?

Webair is not perfect - no hosting company is, but if you ask me, its the best price/value host out there. That is why I host there, even my mission critical stuff.

The past is a bitch. I wouldnt trust these fucks for my hosting.
They fucked your traffic, they will fuck you to.

ORLY THE OWL 10-04-2005 09:55 AM

Webair sucks.

They offer relatively cheap prices in expense of quality and tech support.
Their 3rd world techs don't know what the fuck they are doing.

WebAir might be taking care of their big clients, but small to middle businesses encounter overall bad quality.

I'm surprised TurboAngel isn't here defending them yet. :1orglaugh

Instead of bashing a Web host, just use another if you need to... its not that tough people.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-04-2005 10:07 AM

People should know exactly what the whole isearch was about.

It was about FUCKING YOU.
The Webmaster.

bigdog 10-04-2005 10:09 AM

put it to you like this, i would host galleries on webair, but nothing real important that might require support from time to time

There is really nothing to defend =)

adultchica 10-04-2005 10:14 AM

I just switched to webair last month. What do you mean they fuck with our traffic? And if a client that is only paying 9.95 isn't as important as your dedicated clients, then that is the wrong attitude to have. Because when that 9.95 client gets bigger and better and needs more expensive hosting or dedicated servers, you won't retain their business!

I don't have any right to complain at this point, Webair has been good to me so far.

SmokeyTheBear 10-04-2005 10:15 AM

I thought you were going to post more examples. One example isn't exactly "scared people"

I have hosted with almost every host on the gfy block, and i have to say webair has never let me down yet. BUT i haven't had any problem with them in 2 years, so i haven't needed support for much. I have had much better support from other host's , but then again i only recieved "great support" because the sites had problems , so its hard t compare against webair who i haven't had any problems with thus not needing support. I would rather be up with no support than down with great support :)

Smokey thanks for the positive feedback like i said earlier 99% of the negative posts are from a $9.95 client that does not know how to set up an email account, or haters who have nothing better to do (i.e simple simon) It's all good people that host with us know what's what...

If you have an issue we offer support via live person support chat 24/7/365 and same with toll free phone 1.866.WEBAIR1 We're always there...

I host with webair.com since 2001 or 2002 and I've never had a big problem with them. If something bad ever happens (knocks on wood) I'll talk to Mike and bring it to GFY if needed. I always post good comments about them and I wouldn't be afraid to post a negative one.
