2257 - targeting (US) surfers too

"A secondary producer is any person who produces, assembles....
....or who inserts on a computer site or service a digital image of, or otherwise manages the content of a computer site or service... "

So that basically means that once a 'surfer' (non-webbie) upload an image to one of those image hosts, usenet, forums, filesharings, groups etc.. they become secondary producer and will be responsible for the records.
As the primary producers and affiliates, the surfers can go to jail if he/she has no proof of the models age.

If there are anything rational about the new 2257, the problems with CP are not, mostly, the paysites, but the nasty communities floating around. Targeting/killing these could be primary goal, or does that not make sense? CP is still CP with or without the new 2257, but it is more preventive, right?

Yeah, copyright is one thing, but it is still CP if it does not comply. And it does not necessary need to be images from some paysite.

I think he's suggesting if the surfer uploads a picture of his/her self they will go to jail for 5 years for not keeping 2257 records.

:1orglaugh Not really. I dont think anyone would go to jail for not having ID of themself.

But seriously, if fighting CP is primary goal, they should target the primary distributors. And dont u think communities/filesharing networks are those?
