Top Secret "IT"/Ginger to be unvealed on the Today Show - today
http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/ptech/1...idg/index.html
"Technology leaders such as Apple Computer Co. co-founder Steve Jobs, Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos and top venture capitalist John Doerr are said to have been enthralled by a demonstration of a prototype device and to have invested millions of dollars. Investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston expects that IT can generate more in its first year than any start-up ever, which would make Kamen richer than Bill Gates within five years, according to details of the proposal reported by Inside.com. Jobs reportedly predicts cities will be built around the machines. Bezos calls the product "revolutionary". Kamen claims it will transform social institutions and shake billion-dollar companies. None of those involved, including the publisher, the literary agent or the backers, would comment on the story." http://www.idg.net/go.cgi?id=610713 "Another investor, Apple Computer's Steve Jobs reportedly said the invention would be as significant as the PC, the proposal said." http://www.idg.net/idgns/2001/01/12/...nSecrecy.shtml For all the hype ot has gotten, it better not be a scooter. ------------------ TopBucks.com - Converting at better than 1:130 David Lace Content - Highest Quality Teen Content ConversionCash.com - Make Money off your WebTV Traffic |
The hype I heard is that every single person in the world will either have one, want one, or need one.
What the fuck could it possibly be...??? ------------------ Make $$$ the Diabolical Way |

Yep - I just ran across this, but it is a pretty cool scooter. I thought it was stupid at first, but the more I read - the more I think this could actually work - 5 cents a day in electricity isn't bad! The article below has all the details - I still am going to watch today to see a live demo.
http://www.time.com/time/business/ar...6660-1,00.html Note that he isn't really aiming for the consumer market yet. This is smart. Very smart. |
He is right though, it will change our lives...it will make us lazier, fatter people.
The scooter is good, but will not be useful for long, soon we wont need to leave our houses. Wildman. ------------------ ----------------------- A New way to Wealth - http://www.avscash.com |

Think of the spinoffs for people with disabilities, I can see my nanna cutting sick at the skate park and never moaning about her arthritis again |

Give me a fucking break!
The thing will just make all of into fat lazy shits!... It kinda reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George has an idea of putting moving walk ways all around the city - like the ones they have at airports!... That's probably where Mr. Braino Inventor Guy got his idea from! hehe! You can hardly call them revolutionary! |
It runs on 5 cents a day worth of electricity and has no external steering or breaks, but reads your muscle movements to determine how to move and stop.
We don't have enough energy sources (even nuclear) to make it through the rest of this century without other advances being made. It is good to see inventions like this. He already has several companies and gov't organizations that want them. He has designed this very well - even people with no skills that would never skate, scooter, or snowboard are said to be able to learn how to use this in like 5 minutes. I think it is pretty cool. I won't be getting one anytime soon, but I could see it being useful for plenty of people and companies. Such as huge universities - too crowded for traffic, this would be great for the maintainance people and the like. Same with many other jobs. ------------------ TopBucks.com - Converting at better than 1:130 David Lace Content - Highest Quality Teen Content ConversionCash.com - Make Money off your WebTV Traffic |
SHIT!!
I just had a vision of my mailgirl riding on one of these http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif She's just riding around my office making her rounds..That would be cool, because this would put her ass just a little higher off the ground..So, as I sit & watch her bend down to my desk to drop the mail, I can get a nice upskirt shot http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif |
I agree with Amputate!
(A, didja ever think I'd say that?) Segway is PRETTY cool. It's ok. I don't want one though. I'm not psyched about it. ECrtainly not at $3k. I imagine I'd buy one, screw around with it for a little while, then get bored of it. As far as future implications, well, remains to be seen. As far as leading to hovercraft, there are already some "flying cars", a few of them made by Moller Corporation. There aren't technical difficulties with these cars, they are more of traffic difficulties; designing a traffic system to handle a bunch of crazy fucks like you driving around is no easy task. I don't see Segway as an important step to anything right now. It's PRETTY cool. I buy "pretty cool" shit all the time. Maybe I'd buy one of these, screw around with it for a little while, then give it to some kid. I'm an adult. I'll stick to my car. ------------------ TGP2 Bucks. $1/email. No deductions! |
IT really ticks off George Billington of Corona, Calif. "If I saw anyone riding one like the guy in the picture on the article I would push him over like Barney at K-Mart," he says. "It's unpractical, it's ugly, and who wants to pay three grand for a hi-tech Razor? I'm sure bin Laden would like it for morning cave hoppings...try pitching it to the al-Qaida."
"If people want to get to their destinations in a slower, cheaper, less efficient way while getting rained on there is already - the bicycle," says Thomas of Elizabeth, N.J. "If you can't fall off it why is (inventor Dean) Kamen wearing a helmet for his demo?," says Steve Thorpe of San Jose, Calif. ------------------ TGP2 Bucks. $1/email. No deductions! |
