ORLANDO, Fla. -- A federal drug agent shot himself in the leg during a gun safety presentation to children and his bosses are investigating.

The Drug Enforcement Administration agent, whose name was not released, was giving a gun safety presentation to about 50 adults and students organized by the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association, witnesses and police said.

He drew his .40-caliber duty weapon and removed the magazine, according to the police report. Then he pulled back the slide and asked someone in the audience to look inside the gun and confirm it wasn't loaded, the report said.

Something isn't right with the story.

If you remove a clip then pull the slide...any round in the chamber
will eject. Most semi automatics have a safety feature to prevent
the hammer from throwing when a clip is not inserted.

Lot's of law enforcement guys get their guns "tricked" so they can
fire without a clip inserted. For safety it's a no-no to have a round
chambered and holstered. For the best "ready to fire" state a
holstered weapon with a round chambered with the safety on is
the way to go if you want to shoot as fast as possible from a
holstered state.

Whatever this guy did he fucked up in a stupid way.
