Canon EOS-10D vs the Nikon D70

What would you pick up if you had the choice between the two?

If you have some sample pics from one of these cameras please post them :)

Honestly both solid units, depends what you want to do and which brand you're more loyal to. Either way you're going to get one hell of a camera for a great price.

Canon. I grew up being a Nikon fan and they are great cameras but the Canon has the outofocus motor built ito the body and the Nikon is built into the lenses. This makes the Canon faster for focusing and allows it to out perform the Nikon.

Pic quality....Let's be real.....You are not going to see a difference. :2 cents:

We shoot our entire magazine with the Canon 10D

It really is what you enjoy....rent them both from a professional photo store in your area...test them out for a couple of days....what feels better in your hand.....what do you feel better with. Some people are brand oriented so they will by default go one direction or the other based on the logo....feel them out for yourself.

What will you be using the camera for? If it is strictly web...both of them are more camera then you will ever need online.

Good luck! :)

Sorry to bump this old thread but I am asking the same question.

After reading DPReview and looking around it seems the EOS-10D
may be a slightly better camera. But word of mout supports the D70.

What did you get?

A great picture is:
1. HANDS :Graucho
2. Lens
3. Photoshop
4. Camera...

1 & 4 must fit together...

So if you want a good picture:
1. Buy a good lens!
2. The camera must give you easy acces to the functions YOU use (white ballance, focus or whatever is important for YOU!)

This picture was taken with a non-profi Casio-Exlim-Z4:

I have seen bad and great pictures from all cameras...
Most of the photographs I know like D60 the older version of D10.

I'm very happy with my Canon 10D .. Much happier then when I had the Nikon D1

I just had to send my D-60 in for repair... I picked up a 10 D now. will be shooting with it today... So I guess I would say the Canon:) It will be nice when I get the D-60 back. Having a back up camera is a good thing, for a lot of reasons...
