Do hosts offer CPanel/WHM with their ded. hosting packages?

See subject. Just curious whether any hosts offer that software, or whether they all have chosen to have their techs do all the server admining.

:)

We don't offer C-Panel anymore, but we do offer another great package. Or you could just let our techs do additions for you. They usually reply within an hour anyway.

What other package would that be?

most hosts will install it, I think its $20 a month for the license.

It depends on the overall licenses involved, but it's generally around $50 a month per server. So while a small virtual account won't notice a price difference, a dedicated server will definitely see an extra penny added to the bill.

Phat Servers now uses http://directadmin.com/ which we really like. Instead of the high monthly license fee, you'll only see a reasonable one time fee.

Wow pretty cheap, too bad Over Usage: $0.50 / 1GB not so great for gallerys

We just use custom scripts that we wrote over the years to the majority of the admin work, work quicker and better than Cpanel and we know exactly what all the configs are so if any problems occur we can troubleshoot them quicker.

Uncensored-Hosting offers fully managed servers and Cpanel/WHM as well.

Krille 01-12-2004 07:38 AM

don't need it since NatNet techs do everything for me faster than i would do it with cpanel or whatever, god bless em all :thumbsup

dantheman 01-12-2004 07:42 AM

we have our own cpanel that will allow you some room for you. But our techs are on standby to help with anything you might ever need done :)

A single cPanel license is actually $1500 for unlimited use from DarkOrb (or $650/yr).

It definately makes life much easier - for the customer that is. Occasionally it does have an issue, but it's software and all software problems can be solved if you understand how it works.

Too cheap. I trust no host that offers bandwidth for 4.6 cents a gig on non-bulk deals.

Any good admin can hack into a CPANEL box in minutes. Its security level isnt so good

AndrewKanuck 01-12-2004 08:24 AM

CPanel has a lot of bugs, especially on FreeBSD. We offer it to clients, but usually suggest either a managed solution from our techs or DirectAdmin.

You mean the /tmp bug (which was exploitable if you had a cpanel demo), it's already been fixed.
