What do you reccomend for cleaning up a bike?
My gears and shit are all covered in road grit, grease and rust on top of it... know of a good degreaser for this type of maintenance?

WD-40

I always used to use Pedro's. They have a whole line of stuff, including a couple of different degreasers and lubes.

A 50/50 mixture of water and "Beaver Cleaner" from Beaver Research will do the trick. I've used it to clean track grime from our race bikes for years and iIt's by far the best cleaner I've ever used. Be careful not to let it sit for more than a few minutes, as it will etch aluminum, etc.
If you buy it, be sure to get the foaming dispener they offer also. http://www.beaverresearch.com/solution.htm |
Depends how friendly you want to be to the enviroment.
Bar none, the easiest, quickest and most toxic way to clear a dirty cassette is to get some 'brake disc cleaner' from an auto parts store and spray all the funk off, this stuff is super pressurized and so toxic it could blow the black off James Brown. |
