As some have pointed out, you can loose money on a 100K/per day TGP. Depends on the galleries, sponsors and the traffic of course. Is it niche, which niche.
I'd skip the thumbs, tried that. Think some must of done better with it. Shemp did thumbs. Well does both. If ya think about the elite of the elite, they're text for the most part. If you're average, maybe you rake in $2K/month. If you're aggresive in some way, more (maybe way more). At a 100K visitors a month, you should be able to sell some gallery spots and banner space. The flip side, you could make $500. Takes a crystal ball to answer that one I think. Have you ever read a thread where someone makes to thehun with no conversions. Just all bandwidth. I look at a TGP as a traffic generator more than a source of revenue. Yep, I need the $ too. Only a few will make to the TGP elite status and make serious money at it. Still TGP is an important part of the marketing mix right now. |
10k, 25k, 100k, 200k... Traffic numbers don't mean anything these days without more details, and even then it's very hard to say.
Take that 100k TGP and cut off all trades for a month or two. What do you have left? If you are the Hun, you still have 100% of your traffic. If you are some of these other TGP's, you have almost nothing left. Point is, a TGP that relies on trades to get traffic through their site rests their income in the hands of other webmasters. ANYTHING can happen depending on who these webmasters are, who they do business with, and who those people do business with. Someone introduces shit traffic into the trading circle and everyone suffers. Take two TGP's that are identical and feed the exact amount of traffic into them. One TGP gets trades from one group of TGP's, and the other TGP from a different group of TGP's. The end result could be two very different bottom lines. I personally think trading traffic is for the birds, and I opt to build over the long term for myself only. |

I do think that 250K visitors is going to be more than 2.5 times the profit unless you really work at screwing it up. You could go out and buy that traffic for awhile to see how it feels and how you do? That might be a very good investment.. I'd say the absolute min to prove anything would be 10K/day - more would be better. I'd also try differnt brokers. Each has a different mix of traffic and varies day to day. forgot the most important point - productivity is way higher when you add others to the mix

seems like there is a set of Elite TGPs - PK, Elephant, Shemp, thehun, JJJ, Tommy's, World and so on. They support each other for the most part. Appears hard to break in to those real big numbers.
Can anyone name a TGP that really competes with the legends that started after say 2000? |
