Serial-ATA or SATA-R, and what is the difference?

Apparently SATA-R is really fast. I dunno. I'm too poor to find out.

Let me guess. R = RAID

Ah this is confusing!

It's just a raid implementation of SATA.

If your SATA controller is on the PCI bus then you will not see any increase at all over ATA 133. If you have a board like the P4C800-E it is about 5% faster than ATA 133.

I tried it out and basically wasn't impressed enough to go SATA.

But if you really need raid etc. then go for it.

Thanks.. ata it is.
