Search engine submission services? Any good?

I have never been into the search engines, and know NOTHING about them. I have never even tried to get search engine traffic. I usually only get around 50 a day, mostly from google.

Do any of these "pay" to submit to search engines, really do things honestly. Does anyone have any experience with using a service? I have no problem with paying one to do this for me, if it can help. I really have no desire to do the submissions on my own. Can anyone point me in some direction? Thanks so much! :)

Do it yourself and save you the money, it's not that hard :2 cents:
And you only have to submit once (or not at all).

How? I really don't have the time. Aren't there a ton of them?

You only have to read a little. They offer services too.

The time it took you to post, read, and post, could have been time spent submitting to a number of them, most of which would probably be a waste of time.. Just stick with the big ones..

Avoid submission services.. They usually consist of some guy at home with submission software and advertising submissons to 1000's of search engines.. Most of which are useless and many are just free for all sites..

If you're gonna be in the bidness, you need to take the time to do what's necessary..

This is very correct. That's why you do it the best yourself. There's a lot of good information on the site I gave you.

Been in the business for four years now. :) I do know about work.....lots of it......

I have never dealt with search engines before, and thought it would be easier having a service do it for me. I am reading the page that Fabuleux sent me now.

So basically, I should just submit to the top 10 or so?

You've been in the business for 4 years and have never dealt with search engines? That should have been dealt with on day 1 of your business.. if not before..

lorsha 10-25-2003 09:24 AM

And I've done so well!! :)

Now, I'm looking to do even better!

Submission services are basically a waste of time. There are only two crawlers that matters anymore (atleast in North America): Google and Inktomi. You already appear to have about 100 pages indexed with Google and a half dozen with Inktomi. Since your site is so old I don't think you have to worry about getting listed so much as about getting ranked for relevant and high traffic keywords.
