obviously the pills aren't working anyways. so yeah i would talk to your doctor and see if there are some kind of alternatives. im not a fan of pills myself. i know some ppl have 'chemical imbalances' but sometimes it just situations in life that get ppl depressed and pills will only mask that, not fix it.

Dude this is an antipsychotic medication!

Drug therapy is integral to the management of acute psychotic episodes and accompanying violent behavior in patients with schizophrenia and generally is required for long-term stabilization to improve symptoms between episodes and to minimize the risk of recurrent acute episodes. Antipsychotic agents are the principal class of drugs used for the management of all phases of schizophrenia and generally are effective in allsubtypes of the disorder and subgroups of patients. Patient response and tolerance to antipsychotic agents such as zyprexa are variable, and patients who do not respond to or tolerate one drug often may be successfully treated with an agent from a different class or with a different adverse effect profile. Zyprexa may add to the effects of alcohol and other central nervous system (CNS) depressants (medicines that make you drowsy or less alert). Some examples of CNS depressants are antihistamines or medicine for hay fever, other allergies, or colds; sedatives, tranquilizers, or sleeping medicine; prescription pain medicine or narcotics; barbiturates; medicine for seizures; muscle relaxants; or anesthetics, including some dental anesthetics. Check with your doctor before taking any CNS depressants while you are taking zyprexa" |

Tips for Managing Weight Weight gain is a potential side effect for many psychotropic therapies on the market today. Some people who have taken a new psychotropic medication for several weeks have reported weight gain. If you are concerned about the risk of gaining weight, talk with your doctor about changes you can make in your activities or eating habits to help you manage your weight. Here are a few things you should know: It is very important to stay on the medication plan established by your doctor. Weight gain can be linked to increased appetite, so it is important to be aware of how much you are eating. If you start to gain weight, talk to your doctor about ways you can manage it. |
: Zyprexa?

It stops some sort of chemical if you are "clinicly depressed" rather than just fucked of with the world |
Damian2001 please go see your doctor he prolly neglected to tell you this. But it's our responsibility to check also but he/she prolly didn't let you know your options. They prolly gave you the prescription without giving you all the warnings. I hope you feel better and you do have other options besides this pill ask your doctor.
Good luck |

If I retell this on any other boards I will tell them that I got one "Go away fatty" reply Wouldnt want to spoil your image :) |
Dump the pills since they are obviously making you more depressed if you're talking about shooting yourself 6 pounds from now.
Try a 'natural' alternative like Folic Acid (B9) + B6 & B12. (hunt around on google a little for specifics) At the same time put yourself on Atkins or any diet based around low carb / high protien. Basically when you're hungry.. go for veggies, tuna, chicken, steak whatever.. But stay away from sugar, breads, white rice & potatoes. If you followed a regime like that for even 30 days... I bet you would feel 100 times better. |

if u snort alot of coke it will make u skinny,
look at snoop dogg and whitney houston. |
Btw.. Atkins or diets based around increase of veggies + protein is naturally higher in B vitamins (if you're eating the right things).
Many people I know who have been on Atkins (and didn't cheat) said that mentally they felt much better and more positive about things. I mean these weren't depressed people to begin with.. so it's strange that they would need to comment that they were feeling so much better :) Before you load that gun.. might as well give this a shot (err... a try.) |

Please I beg everyone not to confuse losing weight from the Atkins Diet with being healthy. In my opinion they are two totally different things.
I am not a doctor or a fitness trainer, but I assume that people are jumping on this atkins thing. It can ravage your body. Read up on the consequences of prolonged ketosis. PLEASE talk to your doctor before doing someting like that. Going to the gym daily and eating well will make you healthier, you may not lose weight like you would on atkins, but you will definately live longer. |
post a pic then buy the new dr phil book
|
Fuck taking drugs for depression. It only mask's the problem.

I know, I have a few friends who have restructured their eating habits based on these types of diets. A couple of them had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Had. This has been confirmed. Many times over by many participants in his diet. Yet many new reports still tout how bad this diet can be, may be, might be, could be, for you under certain circumstances. Now... where are all the people who have been 'ravaged' by Atkins type diets again? Where are all the people who are now hooked up to dialysis machines because they destroyed their kidneys on these types of diets? Do they even exist? Or are they a fabrication or intentional exaggeration of the industry (and country?) who would lose hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars in revenue annually if people weren't overweight. I believe there are even "official" goverment warnings that the Atkins diet can be deadly for people with certain (which? How rare?) kidney and liver disorders. I only ask which and how rare because they have made sure to drive home the basic bad message -- "these diets can cause DEATH!", but they fail to give the odds or examples. Again... where are all the dead people? I mean there are MILLIONS of people who have been on this diet no? Shouldn't we have stacks of dead people & dialysis machine sales going through the roof? And how do the odds of death or systemic harm from the diet compare those of doing nothing? |

Come on, an appeal by emotive language at best. I'd like to have a real debate here. Quote:
It's being lazy that got us here and being lazy is not going to get us out. Balanced diet, exercise everyday, and you eventually will get healthy. You MAY NOT lose TONS OF WEIGHT like advertised by some diets, but you will BE HEALTHIER. And isn't that the end goal? Weight loss DNE health. I know a LOT of "overweight" people who are far healthier than some skinny fat-less people. This is what bothers me the most about fad diets. People get so obsessed equating weight loss to health that they don't remember that the ultimate goal shoudl be to be healthy, not simply to lower that number when you step on the scale. I am truly happy if the Atkins diet has worked for some people, however I cannot stress to anyone enough who is thinking about it - at least talk to your doctor. |
Dealing with your weight is a bitch when you sit on your ass in front of a computer all day. It's really easy to get fat and lose all your muscle. Eat right, no more soda or Red Bull (replace it with iced tea), and exercise. I know it's tough but find a way to make it interesting.
Personally, since I am a coder, I made myself a deal. Every time I fuck up while coding (internal server error or an error while compiling) I have to do 5 push ups. It sounds stupid but it works and after a full day of fucking up, I am SORE! I am a much better coder than I was a year ago and I am in better shape. Also, take a walk at night. I go for a walk/run about 9 every night. It's made a world of difference. |
One thing: if you decide to dump the pills DON'T just stop taking them!! You have to ween yourself off of stuff like that. Just stopping something like that can be VERY BAD!!
|
its not the pill its the food idiot :321GFY
|
Agreed, I did not mean to hijack this thread with a debate.
I honestly wish you the best of luck man, several people in my family have mental/physical health issues and it may seem like a long road, but there are cures. And it WILL end in happiness for you. Keep positive. :thumbsup |

I suggest you see your doctor and then get a second opinion. |
definitely dump the pills. All that crap is just a jewish racket. Take a nice long walk , stop eating bad stuff, drink alot of water.
|
Please talk with your doctor before going off the meds. There is no need to shoot yourself over the weight gain. A low carb diet with lots of water and exercise WILL help to bring the weight down and may even help with some of the anxiety associated with depression.
Good luck, :) |
Dude we all get depressed , even us guidos just hang in there
|
Anti-depressants frequently cause weight gain and are a hindrance to weight loss. (although 100 lb.s in 3 months is insane - get to the doctor!)
Atkins is not a "fad", it's been around for over 30 years and has spawned several other low-carb eating plans. And as stated previously, the horror stories about the people who have gotten sick, or died, from Atkins (or had their kidneys explode from protein overload ;) ) are complete fabrications. There is not one documented example. By contrast, every edition of DANDR has pages upon pages of references to the exact studies quoted in the book. Not everyone can lose weight as easily as "eating right". And the food pyramid as it exists is far from right. I asked my Endocrinologist about possible long-term affects of doing low carb (ketosis), and he said that the stress on the heart from being overweight and the complications of diabetes would kill me long before I had to worry about ketosis. I was able to stop taking my diabetes meds simply by not eating potatoes, flour and sugar. How can that be unhealthy? |

Here is a good article for you to read., damian, about the chemicals in your body, what affects they have and about depression and whatnot.. With a little research on the net and a consultation with a NEW doctor (preferably some kind of specialist with regards to diet), you would likely be INCREDIBLY surprised at the results. http://www.angelfire.com/hi/TheSeer/seratonin.html Most people also don't realize that even something as simple as diet can affect our moods. Definitely worth looking into! :) Best of luck. |
put some discipline in your body or mouth!!!:thumbsup
