Is this safe for a computer?

Running power to computers with generators. I have had no power due to Isabel. Might be several more days.

Can generators fuck my computer up?

Only if they over power it.

Also keep in mind that you have no ground.... any short without a fuse blow will screw your whole box.

I wouldnt use it for a long preiod at a time. Get your business done in an hour or two and shut down. Maybe once or twice a day till your power is back up.

Just plug a surge protector and/or a UPS or anything that recondintions the power coming from the generator, that way you have a protection layer between the generator and your box.

He is correct. Also most generators now have circuit protection as well as GFCI protection. In lew of normal grounding a GFCI will do a fine job, the surge protection is a must and if you are running a UPS that does condition the power you don't have anything to worry about at all.

These generators are new ones that have circuit protection and GFCI protection. I need to get some surge protectors and then I will be set. Thanks for the advice.
