Nice first PC for your kids
If you're shopping around for a deal on a first PC for your kid(s), highly recommend eMachines W2260. Really incredible value for the money (only $499).
Includes stylish box, really nice 15 Flat Panel LCD monitor, AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 60 GB Western Digital HD, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, speakers, keyboard, mouse, and the other usual features. I just picked one up for my 8 yr old and he loves it and having his own computer. :) |
I need two cheap systems, but the cheapest I can find this package for is $698. Where'd you get yours?
|
Wal-Mart had it on sale for $499 from original price of $799.
|
Thanks man...gonna go and pick two up today. Good deal.
|
do you allow your 8 year old to surf the net?

emachines are the worst PCs ever made try this |
Yep, the amazing thing it includes an LCD Flat Panel Monitor. Those alone are usually $300 to $400 so the package is a steal.

i wouldnt have got this far if i couldnt build my own machine.
It used to be rather complex o get a new machine runnning not now. They all need formatting every other week anyhow especially if kids are clicking might be time to teach yourself buy a mother board power supply processor and video card sound card xp will do the rest these days it is really just a matter of pushing it together and turning it on these days. |

Which is why the first thing you do after turning it on is format, reinstall the operating system (without retail add-ons), and then put on whatever programs YOU want. If you're not gonna build your own, an emachine is a decent enough box to get. We had one, worked fine except for Win98 SE's usual glitches (98 was fine, SE fucking sucked). |

From a mfr. standpoint getting in Wal-Mart is like winning the Lotto. They'll write multi-million po's like its nothing. So manufactures will go all out to put perfect goods that won't get returned. Besides, what's there to fuck up. PC's are just modules and components. The one I got has a Western Digital Hard Drive and an AMD Athlon XP processor just like any Dell has. Its working perfectly. |
