Nice first PC for your kids

If you're shopping around for a deal on a first PC for your kid(s), highly recommend eMachines W2260. Really incredible value for the money (only $499).

Includes stylish box, really nice 15 Flat Panel LCD monitor, AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 60 GB Western Digital HD, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, speakers, keyboard, mouse, and the other usual features.

I just picked one up for my 8 yr old and he loves it and having his own computer.

:)

I need two cheap systems, but the cheapest I can find this package for is $698. Where'd you get yours?

KRL 09-16-2003 08:06 AM

Wal-Mart had it on sale for $499 from original price of $799.

candyflip 09-16-2003 08:34 AM

Thanks man...gonna go and pick two up today. Good deal.

bigdog 09-16-2003 08:36 AM

emachines are the worst PCs ever made
try this

Yep, the amazing thing it includes an LCD Flat Panel Monitor. Those alone are usually $300 to $400 so the package is a steal.

:thumbsup

No DVD, No CDR, 20gig less on the HD - $100 more. For a gallery submitting box, the eMachines unit should work nicely.

i wouldnt have got this far if i couldnt build my own machine.
It used to be rather complex o get a new machine runnning not now. They all need formatting every other week anyhow especially if kids are clicking might be time to teach yourself buy a mother board power supply processor and video card sound card xp will do the rest these days it is really just a matter of pushing it together and turning it on these days.

bookmark that site so when your emachine breaks in two weeks and they wont fix it, you can get a real computer. been there, done that. i thought it was for a kid anyways? what does a kid need a dvd and cdr for? 40gb will also be plenty... unless you're storing your porn videos on the kids harddrive. it is the same price. $499

Sure why not? He knows the rules.

Plus his computer desk is only about 10 feet away from my desk in my office at home.

All retail machines have spyware built in when you get them.
Which is why the first thing you do after turning it on is format, reinstall the operating system (without retail add-ons), and then put on whatever programs YOU want.

If you're not gonna build your own, an emachine is a decent enough box to get. We had one, worked fine except for Win98 SE's usual glitches (98 was fine, SE fucking sucked).

Let me tell you a well known retailing secret. Wal-Mart's buyers are probably THE toughest in retailing to get your product in their stores. They are fanatical about the products put on their shelves.

From a mfr. standpoint getting in Wal-Mart is like winning the Lotto. They'll write multi-million po's like its nothing. So manufactures will go all out to put perfect goods that won't get returned.

Besides, what's there to fuck up. PC's are just modules and components.

The one I got has a Western Digital Hard Drive and an AMD Athlon XP processor just like any Dell has. Its working perfectly.
