i have cable and a a 12 inch tv .. and my cable isnt even plugged in ... go figure

galleryseek 09-14-2003 03:45 PM

if the money he makes is any reflection of his intelligence then perhaps the reason which he doesn't have a TV is because he is not entertained by it's seemingly constant publicized materialistic brainwashing.

g'damn that sounds good.

Quotealex 09-14-2003 03:48 PM

Until three ago I didn't have a TV for years, and the main reason why I bought one is where I live I need it to view people ringing my door bell.

definitely.. or maybe the reason he makes 6 figures is because he doesn't have a tv to kill his day with.

I use tv to check the weather for the day and the situation of the US/Canadain dollar. So bout 5mins a day MAX.

Maru 09-14-2003 04:02 PM

I gave my TV and VCR away 5 years ago - and never bought a new one. TV is for the masses - intelligent people use the internet.

Here's how I see it:

* TV: You get what they serve you. Internet: You decide yourself.
* TV: You're passive. Internet: You're active - you can discuss, post things, make things, earn money.
* TV: Tons of commercial breaks. Internet: Non-intrusive ads, no waste of time.
* Internet: You can research things, play games, be entertained the way you want to.
* TV takes over your brain. Internet does too - so that one is a tie :-)

Jimbo 09-14-2003 04:04 PM

I'm not saying I'm listening to it alot, but where I live, EVERYONE has a TV.... jeez I have 4 TVs.

theres one in my office wich runs in background for news or musique (MTV). I almost never JUST sit & watch it except when I listen a movie that I rent.

TV/Music keeps me awake, For example I was able to code a cool new script all night long with MTV turned-on last night.

So except if you sit in front of it and IDLE there, it's not really a waste of time. it actually saves me the time to look on the web for news :1orglaugh

cezam 09-14-2003 04:05 PM

Well I have a TV but rarely watch it

brand0n 09-14-2003 04:05 PM

Yes you are. In the 21st century, no one has a tv. What do I need a tv for when I have this computer screen in front of me to give me alot more than tv does.

That's not entirely true, most yes but not everyone in Montreal have a TV in their home. I know lots of people, that don't have it and don't see the need to own one. Also, in downtown Montreal, the reception is so poot that you need to have cable to see clear images on your TV.

Yes - music. I have my stereo going all day. Good music makes me more productive.

Unplug. I get so much more done now that I cut TV out of my life. Yea, I have a tv but I only use it to watch dvds - cable sucks - it systematically destroys any inherent creativity you may possess... Of course, now I'm plugged into the computer 24/7 but at least I'm productive... :1orglaugh

President X 09-14-2003 04:44 PM

I can totally understand why the guy doesnt have a tv. I was in the Paving business years ago and I hated it with a passion. Going to work, coming home to watch tv and go to bed. I put my TV in the closet and said "im not taking that out of there until I turn my life around". I spent all my time reading books on real estate and other businesses of interest. I was a fucking sponge for information.

I changed my life for the better and watch tv again, mostly movies. But we should all still spend time every week learning away from the boob tube.
