Which domain registrar do you use?

And why?

also: what would make you want to switch to another registrar?

Juicy D. Links 08-22-2003 07:26 PM

Godaddy, because they are $8.95 and very quick on the updates and their interface is the best for me.

:winkwink:

Juicy D. Links 08-22-2003 07:30 PM

yeah godaddy is very good

drunkdollars 08-22-2003 07:31 PM

Directnic .. Great admin and customer support :thumbsup

GoDaddy Is the first one I used and haven't had a reason to change. They are Solid And Cheap.

And they don't spam their gay looking banners on GFY.

MonsterMike 08-22-2003 07:36 PM

GoDaddy is the best! :thumbsup

KRL 08-22-2003 07:38 PM

I've used 5 of them, but mostly prefer DirectNIC and GoDaddy.

Enom is popular also.

WiredGuy 08-22-2003 07:43 PM

It's always good to mix up the number of registrars to use (in my opinion) in order to minimize losses in case your username/password becomes compromised. It's scary to think that access to the registrar level can put all your domains offline so I started moving domains around to 3 different registrars.

XxXotic 08-22-2003 07:50 PM

godaddy, cuz there's none better

Matt_WildCash 08-22-2003 07:53 PM

Didn't GoDaddy have some downtime for a few hours a month or two ago??

I use domainnamesystems.com (pretty good) and tucows but they charge $10-12 I think. Should really look for cheaper ones

Nothing. (except maybe an angry horde of naked trannies dragging me into the street and flogging me with vibrators, but I'd have to be guaranteed to get that up front.)

arkhan34 08-22-2003 08:20 PM

i got domains at godaddy and directnic
both have been good :thumbsup

The Truth Hurts 08-22-2003 08:26 PM

DirectNic rules.

chodadog 08-22-2003 08:52 PM

I use Registerfly. I use them 'cause they allow me to pay for domains using paypal. I'd swap over to another registrar if they accepted paypal, had some of the features i use, and were cheaper. Oh, and $0 transfer fee. :Graucho

Playboy 08-22-2003 08:55 PM

GO DADDY cuz they quick cheap and very little downtime..

BUT BUT BUT

last week they had a mixup in accounting, and accidently erased my whole freakin website,, it took 3 days for them to even respond to my emails ( i was on vacation and spent $200 to sattelite phone them ) then they wouldnt even refund me my money for hosting.. This after DELETING every single file i own..
They said .. " so sorry we will add the hosting account back to your account but you will have to re-upload all your files" UMM what files bitch, you fuckin erased em all..

shermo 08-22-2003 08:56 PM

Go daddy is the one :). Better prices and comparable service would sway my decision...but for 8.95, I don't think I'd feel comfortable paying any less than that!

Ditto! They're my third registrar and I can honestly say there hasn't been one single problem in almost 2 years. Which is a LOT more than I say for the other two.

lexr 08-22-2003 09:58 PM

I currently use Dotster.. though at $14.95/year I guess they're not the cheapest now.

I remember the old days when I used to use Network Solutions.. but now at $35/yr they're WAY behind in regards to pricing. $35/yr is so 1999.

Doctor Dre 08-22-2003 10:08 PM

Directnic cauz their web based admin rock :P

Wilbo 08-22-2003 10:30 PM

Rackshack cuz they're only $5.41 :thumbsup

SLY1 08-22-2003 10:35 PM

Dax 08-22-2003 10:54 PM

NetworkSolutions.com :thumbsup The very very best there is.. I have never had a problem with them... they let me transfer anything and everything w/o any hitches and they are dirt cheap at $35/yr specially when they put those $29/yr specials!!

:thumbsup

Bucho 08-23-2003 01:01 AM

used to be a godaddy mania - but lately (last 100 domains or so) ive been using www.namecheap.com - their interface, setup and payment options (they actually accepts paypal) are so much cooler.
They are actually a enom reseller, but i couldnt care less, price is still 8.88/domain.

jasonir 08-23-2003 01:02 AM

I use www.joker.com.

andrew1009 08-23-2003 01:12 AM

hmm... looks like PayPal is in demand for domain buying. Time to look into a solution...

Dreamman010 08-23-2003 01:33 AM

NameCheap.com works for me :thumbsup

GrimShawn 08-23-2003 01:34 AM

directnic, never had a problem with them!

OFFBEAT 08-23-2003 01:36 AM

i use joker.com

Gasper 08-23-2003 02:04 AM

i bought a domain yesterday at rackshack.net :)

okdesign 08-23-2003 02:22 AM

I use namecheap too :thumbsup

liquidmoe 08-23-2003 03:22 AM

Dotster's no longer the cheapest but I still use them because I like their admin interface and I dont register enough domains to start looking elsewhere for the same features at a lower price.

Konda 08-23-2003 03:26 AM

domainnamesystems :thumbsup

scooby doo as scooby does 08-23-2003 04:07 AM

Before you commit totally to godaddy as your exclusive domain name home, do a search on here this forum. They fuck up bigtime sometimes. People have lost valuable domains thru their negligence. I am not saying others don't, but it's worth spreading your registrations around.

Unfed 08-23-2003 07:01 AM

GoDaddy :thumbsup

PotentMind 08-23-2003 07:07 AM

RegisterFly.com

Domains are $9.99, but usually a couple times a month they have $7.99 sales. Plus they have great management tools.

Paparazzi 08-23-2003 07:09 AM

what do you mean by support? and what do you even need support for...registering domains/transferring/etc/....isn't really rocket science.

I was with DirectNic until I checked out RegisterFly and I can't see myself ever changing.

brutus 08-23-2003 07:28 AM

OpenSRS
-You have complete control of your domains, domain locking, renewals etc. Actually it's for resellers only system - but if you have enough domains that's fine.

ACTUALLY.... If you also use their namewinner site... u can go an use the quickreg .. and get domains for $8.75 for the first year... so right there u save yourself a few bucks.. and do not have to change registrars :thumbsup

My faves are registerfly and dotster

greenlab 08-23-2003 09:14 AM

yeah, namecheap.com rulez...tons of features (even DNS admin) and very cheap

IF (and that's a really big IF because the only problem I've had I caused myself) you have a problem with Directnic, you can usually talk to own of the owners since they are also in adult. AFAIK, they are the only ICANN approved registrar that came from adult. I like being able to deal with owners of companies cuz I'm spoiled. :winkwink:

lEricPl 08-23-2003 10:08 AM

I have been with Directnic for years and love em.

Great support.

Although I did just buy a $5.00 domain from rackshack just to try it out.

Even at that price I wouldn't switch. Directnic has the domain name game beat. Their control panel and support wins hands down.
