I think both (uploading, downloading) is illegal in the US.

In some other countries (like Germany) is only the uploading illegal because when you are downloading you can't now that the file you are downloading is illegaly send to you.

In some other countries you can upload and download illegal movies and so on without a problem.

So it depends on where you live...

You crazy bastards, just turn off sharing and move all files out of your shared folder after you download. And use Kazaa Lite K++.

No lawsuit for you!

That wasn't just some kazaa user, that was the RIAA. Have you checked the list of people being sued to see if your Kazaa handle is on there?

NBDesign 09-11-2003 05:41 PM

What gets me is....

Ok, I downloaded a copy of Bruse Almighty when it was still in the theaters...

The movie I downloaded was of DVD quality... Where did it come from? Ity was not someone sitting in the theater with a cam corder... It was not out on DVD yet since it was still in the theaters...

My guess is that someone from the movie company leaked it out...

So if they are going to just toss this stuff out there... I'm gonna pick it up.

Sly_RJ 09-11-2003 05:41 PM

Hey I just found all the pictures from www.mybirthdaysuit.com on another site, they're pretty nice. Thanks for the free pics. :Graucho

IntenseCash 09-11-2003 05:45 PM

I would be careful.. the gov is really cracking down on this now... I have actually stopped downloading so much. There are currently 20 people here in Denver that are being sued for file sharing... that number is growing daily..

dinkz 09-11-2003 05:56 PM

How does this sueing stuff work.. for example, can RIAA sue an international user, say located in denmark or so?

Ic3m4nZ 09-11-2003 06:00 PM

I always share my movies and my porn videos on Kazaa :Graucho

Why not... it's just good marketing.. pretend it's stolen and people will download it... just make sure it's a trailer... so they will want more :)

A while before a movie comes out, they release DVD copies to movie critics. Out of all the people there's always some who's willing to let his nephew borrow it and then *BaM!* dvdrip before the movie hits theaters. This is also where the better quality pakistani bootleg copies come from.

Yea... but those usually have some copyright stuff in them, they go from color to BW and they have an 800 number to repost stolen copies.. this one did not.

its still illegal. it could be a disgruntled employee that stole it or just someone who works in the factory where its produced. or someone that works somewhere that they sent a copy of the movie to be reviewed for a magazine. theres numerous possibilities.

Tease 09-11-2003 06:31 PM

when I was a bit younger, I was really into the warez scene and lemme tell you, they can't do shit. only threats. I had emails and phone calls saying that I'm involved in an illegal activity, and that my internet connection will be terminated if I don't stop. pfff.......
as you can see I'm still online.

To create it and distribute it sure...

if you drop a 50 on the street.. and someone picks it up 5 min later... is that stealing?

same thing here.. if you leave it lying around... someone will pick it up.

asuna 09-11-2003 06:38 PM

You can always blame you had a virus and someone bounced ports and took his ip to download
