Hybrid wants to leave this business for the military....

Well I'm not going to let him sign his life away without a fucking fight. I've been talking to hybrid for the last few months and I'm about to kick off some projects with him.

I originally came to this board to work with other webmasters and make more money. Well somehow in between January and today I got completely off track. Therefore I'm digging up my old projects and getting several others ready to go.

I don't mind helping new webmasters make money and those were my intentions when I first got here. I've gotten some of my projects off the ground but I slacked off on my original plan. Then I saw hybrids post. He's close to joining the service to pay for college because he hasn't had much luck in adult. Fuck that. I'm going to work with hybrid on some things immediately and together we are going to help other webmasters.

I've brought back one of my first posts here and if you are a new webmaster that plans on staying in this business for as long as you can I ask you to take a look.

And to all the haters I say Go Fuck Yourself as usual. Think what you want, say what you want, and do what you want. I don't give a rats ass. I enjoy a good piss match.

As Amp would say

Bring it on motherfucker.

stocktrader you are the man.

i wish i had the pull to help some newbies along as well. We have talked and you know i am all about success now, and have some strong ideas. its unfortunate that my rep wont allow me to share them, or be taken seriously, so i need to hide behind other WM's to launch projects.

Anyhow, if i can be of any help, just let me know.

There are alot of newbies with some seriously great ideas, and no capital to back them, they are willing to work hard and strong.

thats who id be after.

again, let me know if i can help AT ALL ..... you have my full support.

if hybrid wants to join the military, why try to stop him? unless the only reason he's joining, is because of his failure in adult. even then, why try to stop him?

if that's what he wants to do...

i agree, except it seems as if he is joining only because he cant seem to make it anywhere else. He really wants an education and thats respectable.

I have been there, im sure alot of people have.

When you hit rock bottom, its hard to see the top and you feel like your options are limited.

When i was on bottom, i actually concidered same exact thing.

many, many, many people get degrees (including me) with very litttle money.

i know that joining the miltary is not the only option lol.

simple truth.

I've been throwing some ideas around with hybrid for several months. The ONLY reason he's joining the military is to pay for school. I just decided it's time to take these ideas, light a fire under our ass and spit them out.

when i was young and at a very low point, i went ot the marine recruit center.

they told me that since i only had a GED, i needed to get a certain amount of college credits to join.

i went to school for programing and took out a loan to pay for it.

the loan was dirt cheap while i was in school, maybe $50 per month?

then 6 months after graduation, it went to $300 or so, not too bad.

im still paying it since school was $21k lol

I still laugh every time you post. I've been doing the same thing since January of 2001. Haven't done it as long as most here but I'd say I'm not a newb at what I do anymore. I'd also say that even if I got into this business today I'd be just fine. My hobby is money and I've never seen easier money than with adult.

Cheers

OK, lemme crack it down for ya.

I'm 22

Federally, in the US, you are a dependant on your parents until you're 24.

My mother makes around 75k per year. But; has gone Bankrupt 4 times in the past 12 years.

Therefore, I'm middle of the road, not black, not female, with a single parent who brings in too much income. they don't look at the details.

I have a cap on my loans. This just happens to be just enough for classes.

School has been broken up into different sections. I save up, I go for a quarter, etc. Since I've done this, I am ineligeble for most scholarships.

I don't want to live a gamble hoping i'll get a masters when i'm 48.

Bang.

hybrid 08-01-2003 02:34 AM

Imagine trying to go to college with no help from your high school's "vocational program".

No guidance from family.

And attend some shitty Community College where everyone there are fucking morons. Where you have to find the right questions to get the right answers.

Me against the world.

This, is life, fellas. A lot different than how you went to school, I'm sure.

so... what do you want? a handout? isn't there enough of that?

i wish you the best, but i can't believe you would keep coming here and asking for help. dude - help yourself. certainly the answer isn't military, unless that's what you decide.

i moved away from my parents at the age of 17. i didn't even have a high school education. i worked a 98% average in grade 12, and did university with absolutely no outside help. university came easy in comparison.

anyway, good luck...

Nope.

venturi 08-01-2003 02:58 AM

Hybrid,

Dude I will never ever tell you to not join the service, but do it for the right reasons. I went to boot with a bunch of fucking whiney bitches that once shit did happen (Panama, DesertStorm, Somalia, etc) they cried like babies that they only signed up for the education benifits. If that is your primary motivation, please stay out of the military - you'll be a liability that folks like myself would likely have to eliminate in order to ensure the safety of the rest of the troops. It's not a vacation, and it's not a free ticket to getting a degree. Frankly, lots of folks that join for the education and get it end up worse off than they started. The degree doesn't matter - the intelligence and ability to run with a good idea and make it profitable does.

Adult may not be your bag, no biggie. Being an entrepreneur in any way may not be your forte, so what. Just make your decision on what happens next the smart one for You. Stocktrader has offered very kindly to help, but that may end up fruitless - that doesn't make you any less of a human.

I always thought that I'd be a corporate giant and make bazillions working for 'the man' but it didn't pan out that way for me. I actually found out that I HATE being an employee. For better or worse I would rather be my own boss. But that is merely my experience.

Just don't run off making gut reactionary decisions about your life. Sit down and think about things a bit and try to understand what will be best for you. Don't jump out of the frying pan and into the fire (sorry for the cliche).

Did you know that while you are on active duty in the military that all of the college courses you take are Free... and when you get out... you still have your GI Bill to use...Get your Associates while serving, the get out and get your Bach then Masters for Free... :thumbsup

Cash 08-01-2003 02:01 PM

This is the right time to join the army, if you catch Saddam or Osama, you hit the jackpot. :winkwink:

Carrie 08-01-2003 02:43 PM

Lockheed Martin will pay you to work for them, and they'll also pay for all of your college classes.
Work there full time, go to class 3 nights a week and weekends, do porn the rest of the time.

Then again, you can work porn part-time, and make more than you'd make at Lockheed and with your college degree combined.
