The study shows that the modern cigarette does to nicotine what crack does to cocaine
Crack cocaine
Previous research has shown that a drug's addictiveness is influenced by the speed at which it is delivered to the brain and absorbed into and from the blood stream. "The study shows that the modern cigarette does to nicotine what crack does to cocaine," says addiction expert Jack Henningfield, at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The notorious addictiveness of smoking crack results from the vapourised cocaine reaching the brain almost immediately. Ian Jones, a nicotine expert at Bath University, UK, adds: "Free-base nicotine is the most damaging form because it is the optimal configuration for binding to the nicotine receptors in the brain, heart and rest of the body. If the binding efficiency is increased, it means the concentration of nicotine at the receptors is higher and so it is very addictive." "The first few puffs are the most important in terms of addiction, because nicotine reaches the brain within seconds," full article |
Cool. I think I'll light one up now.

I've just quit and it's been a month.
I'm hating it and really miss smoking, but I try to remember stuff like this. |

Just takes will power man.... I stopped smoking regularly about 18 months ago but I can still smoke one cigarette a month and it doesnt lead to more. I dont feel like i need to have more.
Mind you, I gotta say.... I really enjoy that one. |
Weed is not physcally addicting.
It can be habit forming, but cigarettes are way mroe addicting than recreational pot smoking. Thats like saying because you drink a couple sodas a day you are PHYSICALLY ADDICTED. not necessarily so. :winkwink: |
best cigs I smoked that were probably the healthiest were Rothmans...
US smokes are harsh and seriously polluted with every non-pronounceable word in the chemical dictionary... |
any 8 year old kid would know that
isn't it kinda of obvious but yet they spend millions on research |
