Why Many Dont Join
 

I took some time to add the following popup to my sites just to see what people will write.

The following I had popup when someone exited the join page without joining.

almost all had the same concerns

Recurring billing (some had other things to say but over 90% said recurring billing)

So I did two things and it helped me generate more signups.

1) on the join page I added a link saying you can cancel by clicking here, it takes less then 30 seconds.

2) I added a one time signup option (it's $99 for 6 months) and many chose that option.

Could be. They didn't spend millions developing Verified by Visa for nuthin.

It wouldn't surprise me if Visa stopped allowing recurring billing for high-risk transactions. I could see that happening in 2004.

Sure, why not... Fall 2002 they slapped the $750 fee and made the scrubbings go up at the processors, Fall 2003 they're reducing CB ratios and making the processors get even more stingent, any bets as to what lies for Fall 2004 people?

Although, to be honest, I have to admit I wondered about that when I first saw your site. I always assumed most surfers would be insulted by a site that didn't offer one-time billing; I expect they would be suspicious that the site was too agressive.
