The check fraud epidemic..
Is it only me that seems to notice that it is getting much worse? It seems that everyone is now aware that they can get free access with a bogus bank account number. Ibill at least seems to have no defence against this.
Has anyone done any numbers on whether or not it is worth it to do checks at all? |
Probilling seems to have a pretty good system. They attempt banks that they can hold funds real-time. They're supposed to reject banks that they can't bill for, but that hasn't been working 100% - bogus info still gets through. Still not as much as regular ACH billing though. I'm tired of the "cash and bounce" method of verification myself.

It is getting MUCH worse.
Some people here mentioned they removed the check option and it did not affect sales. All it did was stop the fraudsters from getting free access. |
IMHO there has always been check fraud. Maybe it is the change in times that makes people notice it more now.

In the last month or so, it seems that there has been a huge surge in bogus check su's.... i've been watching them... and when i see a name i think is phony.... i change the password through the ibill interface....
Nobody's complained yet... so i guess i'm only catching the crooks.... This one guy though... keeps just putting in like: Name: laksjdfodjlfk just junk letters, and he keeps giving beverly hills and a beverly hills zip code... every time i block the accounts he fradulently makes... he just makes another one right away... he's a dick |
