if you were coming to NYC...
where would you stay?
We're starting to plan our big NYC event. I'm so excited... the dates are Sept 19th and 20th. :) Last year we had everyone stay in Times Square, very close to the parties. But I have so many hotels to choose from, in so many neighborhoods... I'm wondering where everyone would like to stay most? Any thoughts? And another question, would you mind having to travel a bit to get to the party? Cab rides are cheap and easy and you'd get to see more of the city. |

There is a little very cheap hotel on East 17th Street between 4th and 5th avenue. The hotel is called Hotel 17. It's nothing fancy as
it's a very cheap hotel but the rooms have character. A number of good old cult films have shot there motel scenes. Check it out...or give them a ring. The guy who runs the place his name is Jamey DynaMite :2 cents: |
i think i will sleep riding the subway all night,
hi NINA! |

I've found some really nice cheap rooms so far... but some are kind of uptown, so that's why I'm wondering about location as well. |
i've been to NYC three times. and each time, i've stayed in mid-town. the paramount, and two W hotels.
is there anything near NYU? i really like that area... |

The rooms were just like the Mondrian...but way smaller. |

walking from Soho. Lots of bars restaurants there aswell. DynaMite |
The best place for people coming in from out of town is Times Square. The hotels are affordable , Easy to get find a cab or get around. Lot's of things to see. Lace the strip club is in walking distance and the girls are hot. They even do blowjobs in the VIP !

the next time i'm there i'd rather stay somewhere away from times square... |

That's actually a great idea... I think people would love being in that area. I'll have to check out the hotels and see what's available. |

And they didn't seem to care that I dressed like a bum. |

You can always contact The Hudson for a group deal of $140 per room.
Downtown there's only the W on 16th 'n Union Square E. which might cut a deal or The Tribeca Grand and Soho Grand (both cost too much for a group deal). There's also that Holiday Inn on Houston which should work out to $109 or so. There's also the Gramercy Park Hotel which has a great price and also has free high speed access. The bar is cool too but not ultra 'black clothes and shades hip.' Back in Times Square there's the new hotels on 42nd between 7th and 8th which will cut a hell of a group deal. What I really suggest is putting everyone in The Time Hotel on 49th 7/8th. The rooms are a good size and the bar is really cool. The hotel is owned by a dude named Vikram who is an international playboy so he lets models stay there for next to nothing which causes a lot of them to be there decorating the place. If YOU call and tell them about your event I'm sure they will work out something special for you. Work out 2 deals, one for people who want to save a bit and one for people who don't want to spend a ton but still want to live it up a bit. |
Sleep in Central Park its free.
And its safe, too. |

I'm calling around today, The Hudson was first on my list. I'll add the others. Your suggestion about the 2 deals leads me to my next question.... is it important to have everyone stay at the same hotel? I don't think it is, but I'd love to hear what other people think. I know a group of 3 hotels all in different areas, each a different style and all inexpensive but very nice. I was thinking about calling them for a group rate but asking if people could chose any one of the 3. |
Anywhere but the Pennsylvania Hotel.... 160/night for the worse rooms I've ever slept in. Made Motel 8 look like a palace.
|
I don't think it totally matters whether people stay in the same hotel here. Although if you find a hotel with a great common area/bar it would seem very convention like which is cool. You know at the start of the day and end of the night folks like to mill around together and shoot the shit while people watching. That's why I suggested The Time. Of course the old standbys The Marriott Marquis and The Sheraton NY are great spots for that. Some of these NY hotels will make people uncomfortable because they are over the top.

high speed internet is very important for some

Whats up every body. Im from philly and we have some amazing hotels in the city. I mean NY is a nutty place. And by the way what convention or whatever this is, WHAT IS IT? im trying to roll up. Blaze a few blunts with some nice porn slangers like myself. Hit me back up..
