its fuckups like you that create the whole "pop punk" bullshit.
fuck they are on a record label. they must suck. before you write stupid ass comments like this one maybe you should download a couple of songs from fat bands such as strung out and rise against and appreciate it.

could you please also give me a small list of the punk bands you listen to coz i wanna be as punk as you. thankyou.

Dude, don't get so pissed off...

No, they don't suck because they're on a record label...they suck because their music is god awful, overproduced pop...maybe with an exception to the album you mentioned, since it's live.
If you like that particular kind of music, that's fine, you gotta start somewhere...all I'm saying is that it would've been cool to me too, about 11-12 years ago when I first started skating....the days when I didn't know the difference between good and bad, or didn't know that there was a difference between punk rock and old school hardcore...It's about keeping an open mind about new stuff...and believe me, I've kept an open mind for over half of my life...my conclusion is that this kind of music is shitty, the worst kind to me...except for maybe skacore, don't get me started on that. Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin were way more fucked up than most people care to know...a lot more than these "crazy" pop punker pussies...but at least they had some talent and didn't coin themselves with a bastardized term that really doesn't mean shit anyway. And what about Screaming Jay Hawkins'? Aspiring black opera singer gone bad, with 100+ illegitimate children spread out across america...and for christ sakes, Chuck Berry, what a fuck up...with his hidden bathroom cams and all that other shit, the motherfucker's still playing shows at like 80 years old.

It's just that there is SO MUCH better stuff that most people haven't ever heard of, or care about hearing, that will never be heard because very few recordings exist...bands that only played one show to 7 people who didn't give a fuck, then broke up, only to leave behind demo material that shaped the way things sounded 15 years later. It happened, again and again.

You're from Australia, you guys had some of the best punk rock of all time in the late 70's...The Saints, fucking unreal stuff...check out their first two records...I like 'eternally yours' better...don't bother with anything after the first two, though...they got pretty bad. And Radio Birdman, although somewhat mainstream now after being in that fucking car commercial, were amazing. Not to mention the Scientists, but they were more power pop than anything. You should really check out any of the "murder punk" compilations, all late 70's austalian punk rock compilations...they fucking blew me away, I hadn't heard of any of those bands on there and EVERY FUCKING song was good.

I can't get started, I'll go all day talking about this.

ok well i see your a bit older than me so obviously youve got a bit more experience. i listen to most music and i appreciate it for the music. i dont care what label its on. i dont like good charlotte because i dont like the music. its shit. i dont care that they are popular or on a big label. i use to care about all that shit but i really dont give a fuck anymore. i mean...what does it matter to me so long as im listening to stuff that i enjoy.

you say you are open minded yet you've never listened to any of these bands. the majority of fat wreck bands are fucking great and epitaph nearly as good. and they are on these labels because theyre music is so fucking good.

take a look at the bands that play on fat and tell me that most of them are overproduced pop. i think your getting confused with bands such as sum 41, good charlotte, simple plan etc.

to open your mind how about you download a couple of songs from some fat bands and judge them by the music and not because they are on a label. some of the best punk bands ever are those that you classify as "crappy pop punk". nofx, lagwagon, strung out etc. are more well known now because theyve been writing and playing great music for years.

i cant be bothered writing anymore about this but some people are really missing out on good music by having a closed mind.

cool.

Actually Strung Out is one of the few "new school" punk bands that I can even tolerate. Check out some of their older songs like Rotten Apple, Radio Suicide, or my fav. Little big Man. It's not the same old emo bullshit you hear way too much of lately.

MiLo 06-10-2003 05:55 PM

Nope, they suck.

No problem. I think ive heard enough Strung Out records to say that i personally think they suck. Do i have to give a deeper, more meaninfull contribution, when that is what i actually think of them? Not really much left to say on my side.

By the way, not all the Fat Wreck or Epitaph bands suck, but the best bands in both labels (especially Epitaph) didnt started their careers through them.

And NOFX being the best punk band ever? mmmm...

Well thats fine if you dont like them but they dont suck...they are a talented band.

And yes nofx are one of the best punk bands ever. Please tell me a few of the punk bands you consider as being the best of all time.
