Not really. While, ofcourse, chemicals can have mind-altering effects, so can environments. As a designer, you should know that, for instance, different colors have different effects on people. Now, the thing with road rage is that it is probably caused by feelings of anonymity combined with a lack of human eye contact (communication) and adrenaline - all of which can be attributed to the environment a car provides. Something similar can ofcourse be said about message boards.
The thing is, everything can fuck with your mind. Including drugs.

Smoke meth? Want holes in your lungs?
Snort it or mix it up with coke (the soft drink) and drink it, but for god's sake, don't smoke it.

I think comparing the environment on the road to the mind altering effects of drug use is a pretty damn big stretch. People that lose themselves to road rage are victims of themselves. They have weak minds and lack self control. If the environment itself was the source, driving would be banned. We can't have the public slaughtering each other on the way to work now can we?

I was a pro driver for nearly ten years. I have over a million professional miles and a crystal clear record. You know how many times in those million miles I got pissed off at the fucking idiots driving their cars? Probably close to a million. Did I ever flip out and kill someone using my 40 ton truck? No... and it wouldn't be pretty scene if I did. The reason I didn't is because it doesn;t matter how pissed off you get. Stable thinking people do not kill other people because they're pissed off... regardless of how much the idiot deserves it.

But drugs change your thinking ability. People that normally are able to think clearly despite momentary rage, quite often are unable to make rational decisions under the influence. You might THINK you can. Doesn't mean you do.

Road ragers that blame the environment and society and all that other shit are copping out to the most convenient scapegoat they can find. It's the era of ditching responsibility after all.

well, actually no. If the shit is illegal, then no, they don't have "the right". Also, unless they're living in a cave in Pakistan somewhere, it's virtually impossible to not affect other people with your drug use. Someone somewhere will be affected. Your neighbors, your family, what friends you used to have, and ultimately the taxpayers when they gotta pay for the county to come clean your dead carcass off the street. Plenty of people affected there I'd say.

I've tried virtually every drug there is a few times. I didn't screw anything up because of it, didn't get in anybody's way because of it, just tried it out in my spare time. Who exactly were affected by that?

Ok, Alcohol is legal, many non-drinkers are killed by drunk drivers every year. But yet it is perfectly acceptable for someone to hit a happy hour after work. I'm sorry, but even one drink impares your thinking....

I completely agree. My policy has always been, you take a drink... even one drink... you do not drive. Ever. Not for emergencies, not because you're stuck, not for anything. Zero tolerance. If I even smell a beer, that's it. I do not drive. Period. No exceptions. And anyone that does, deserves whatever punishment they get.

Keep smokin' your ganja... I don't care what you do. But if you're trying to convince me it's cool, you're wasting your breath. And if someday you get nailed on possession or something else directly relating to your drug use, don't cry about it. Not to anyone.

All I said was, if they are only hurting themselves, then why should it matter what someone does. Hey if they are that weak minded that they need to be high to cope with life... then fuck em... let them do their drugs.. od or whatever... as long as they do it in their own home and not effecting the rest of us... let them kill themselves.

Suicide is also illegal. And it does affect everyone else. As a taxpayer, I gotta pay to have your dead rotting ass cleaned up, and probably an autopsy as well. That's affecting me.
