Woohoo! Florida Governor signs gun bill.

It's about time!

Quote:

CNN)Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed Senate Bill 7026 into law Friday, the first gun control legislation enacted in the state after the Parkland school massacre on February 14.

The new law, known as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, tightens gun control in several ways but also allows some teachers to be armed.

"The hardest thing I've ever had to do as governor is try to console a parent who has lost a child," said Scott, surrounded by families of the victims.

Scott received the bill Thursday following days of impassioned, often contentious debate in the majority-Republican House and Senate.

It's not perfect but it's a good start.

Who knew? It wasn't Obama, it was Donald Trump that was coming for your guns.

Why would you be happy about someone "coming for your guns?" You realize that gun-toting criminals don't give a shit about any gun laws, right? Disarm law-abiding citizens, brilliant plan.

Also, Florida will now have school staff who are armed. That really is a brilliant move.

Yes yes, they are coming for your guns. The NRA and Paranoid's motto. NRA playbook^^^^^^

People are finally done with gun violence.

Right now here in California there is a gunman holding three people hostage in a Veteran's home. Enough is enough already.

We need a nationwide plan to deal with this. We need free mental health care, gun control, and we need to limit the kinds of firearms people can own.

I don't believe arming teachers with help much. We had an armed officer at the high school, and also an armed officer at the Pulse nightclub. Armed officers is response and does not prevent or lesson the damage.

Rochard 03-09-2018 09:01 PM

Turns out the gunman killed himself and three others....

Hostages, gunman found dead in Napa County veterans home

If it at least keeps guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens, I'm happy with that.

People don't really think about what they'd do if they're suddenly in a situation where someone wants to do them serious, life-threatening harm. Well, maybe not having access to guns will make them think about that a little bit more.

RedFred 03-10-2018 11:20 AM

And the NRA is now suing Florida. This terrorist organization has more blood on its hands than Al-qaeda

NRA sues Florida to block part of new gun law

Take your fear mongering and shove it up your ass you fucktard

They are going to take our guns..hasn't happened yet!

But if Trump wanted to take them you alt right would more than likely give them up because he's looking out for you guys and would never do anything bad

If liberals gave a fuck about children they would ban abortions.

Alcohol should be illegal as well. It just turns people into violent assholes. Also, how many people are killed from drunk drivers each year?

Weed just makes people lazy and stupid. Why on Earth would recreational weed be legal?

Porn just turns people into rapists. We should ban it as well.

Liberals are such fucking hypocrites. Full of stupid. Empty of logic.

You're all communist scum.

NRA members have done zero mass shootings. An NRA member stopped the Texas church shooter with his AR-15. But keep spewing hysterical nonsense, it's pretty funny.

There are more guns in the US than people. Do you expect the criminals to just turn them in?

I had a similar discussion with some friends last weekend. I simply said to them, "If you got pissed off and decided you were going to shoot up your work and take out as many co-workers as possible, but you weren't able to get a gun legally, where would you get an illegal gun much less an AR-15 or AK-47?

Aside from literally walking around the seedy parts of town asking random people, none of them had an answer. People act like there is some kind of store they can go to and buy an illegal gun.

That's the NRA social conditioning at work right there. I wouldn't know where to get illegal shit and I'd be afraid that the first place I try to look online would be exactly the place where a sting would be that's why I don't do illegal shit, that and because, it's illegal! Life's easier this way and this is the way 95% of people feel.

This is why the NRA so afraid of legislation and making his guns illegal because they know once it's illegal sales are dead

For a legal gun, yes.

However, if you weren't old enough or for some reason couldn't pass the background check then you can't. At the moment you could still buy it legally from a private party and in many states you could buy it at a gun show without a background check, but if those options were removed a person would be forced to buy one illegally.

I'm not advocating for banning all guns, I just think a lot of people act like it is easy to get an illegal gun when it is not.

I grew up in a small town in the country so I have been around guns my whole life and have seen things that would make some European's heads spin around.

A few examples:

A local bank ran a special. Open a new checking or savings account with at least $1,000 in it and you get a free gun.

I can remember at least two times there were charity auctions to raise money for some school event and among the items up for sale were guns.

One of my friends slept with a loaded shotgun under his mattress from the time he was maybe 12 or 13. Not under the bed, under the mattress between it and the box spring. If you laid on the bed you could feel the bump. He wanted it near in case he needed it.

A classmate of mine made a shotgun in high school woodshop class. Not only did he make it, the teacher took it outside, on school property during class, and fired it a few times when he was done to make sure it was safe.

I grew up around several people who made sure they were never more than arms reach from a gun. They owned several guns and had them placed around the house so no matter where they were they could reach and pull it out at any time.

Just a few off the top of my head. It's safe to say we have a full-blown love affair with guns.

I just can't imagine that - I live in Spain and the local police are armed - I can't tell you how much I hate it - Now teachers should be armed as well? - OMG...

One provision of the law raises the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21 from 18.

A 20 year old man, living in the Florida everglades, can't buy a weapon to protect his family. from alligators.

it actually is very easy

if i wanted, i can have one within the hour. legit owners actually drive down to certain areas and sell them out of their trunks.

King Mark 03-13-2018 09:48 PM

legal guns make it very easy to have illegal guns in america. i know countless dudes who's job is to fill little sally's head up on instagram and get her to buy legit guns to report stolen. its very simple. addicts with no record buy legit and price gauge in the hood... notice that nra sticker on that car? thats the next burglary! etc.

thats not even talking gun shows... wholesale shit
