TGPs with 100's of categories, are they better?

I'm seriously thinking of redesigning a few sites. I see a lot of sites like cowlist.com and pussy.org that have 100's of available categories with 1000's of galleries in total. I'm going to guess that surfers love this kind of site. But that still leaves me to question if they make anyone any money.
I know Choker says that all sites with category pages have ban traffic that dont buy anything.
What about other peoples point of views, both as the site owner making money, and from gallery makers getting signups from these types of tgps.
Does it really make a difference? I'm sure having 1000 galleries isnt going to help sales, but take a look at the way these sites are breaking down categories.

The more targeted the traffic the better it converts.

You see I was thinking this too, thats why I am considering it. Then again, the idea of all the more free porn doesnt sit well. Even if I only list a max of 15 galleries on each page I could have over 1500 galleries in total.

Someone else have any direct experience they can share?

General sites with a ton of categories have much lower prod than niche sites...they won't convert nearly as well. It's better to have a TGP for each niche than one for every niche. IMO

Don't be fooled though by the apparent "traffic" some of these types of sites are receiving,...

Something doesn't smell right to me.

I know niche would be better for sales. BUt I am talking about the difference in sites that have 10 general categories, either on one main page, or on multiple pages, and sites like http://www.catlist.com that have over 100 categories on seperate pages.
As far as traffic, I saw one site that catlist trades with that is over 15k a day. I know cowlist has a lot of traffic, but there were a lot of trades around that size. I dont know how old catlist is, but I just saw it about a week ago or so for the first time.

In my own experience, it is better to have less catagories.

maybe 5 or 10 at most! I generally make a TGP with only 2 similar niche's like BBW & ebony, or Teen & petite.

Doing this will increase sales, target your traffic better, and if all else fails you will have a decent amount of targetted traffic to sell.

Sites with 100 catagories are absolutely useless IMO

the only way i would do that, is if i had one main page with just catagory links, then a seperate page for each catagory. Doing this will get you better SE hits for that particular page, and you can always set up each page with its own script to trade for targetted traffic.

Not sure if i answered your question, or just confused you more, but thats how i feel, heh

Thats what I am talking about. Each categpry gets its own page. Check out pussy.org.

What I have found is the best results for me is to have 1 tgp that has 20-40 categories and have sub sites that pull the specific categories, for example; my teens tgp would pull the teen and petite categories from the main tgp where the other 20-40 categories are listed. This way I don't need to update 10 tgps, only 1 tgp and the rest change with it. This gives me more time for making other things. :thumbsup
