What do you use to manage MP3s? or.. itunes on the pc?

A friend of mine showed me the awesome mp3 and playlist management built into apple's itunes....

If your familar with that, do you know of anything on the PC that comes close?

Or, what do you use to manage your MP3 collection & build playlists?

It sort of looks like that.. I think it uses mysql for the database or something. But you can build playlists or CD compilation lists with ease & then easily burn your playlists/cd lists to cd... its just reaaaallly good.

I would love to find something like this for th PC

I love iTunes. The way it sorts, the smart playlists, the clever search feature (as you type, it instatly narrows down the dearch to match), everything. Very smooth.

My advice?

Nice to see some Rammstein. Nice to see a brushed metal interface... Really sad to see them on a PC.

Call me an idiot but I actually use WMP 9. I like how it automatically keeps track of what I listen to at certain times of the day, then I can pull up lists based on those times.
And it'll rate the songs based on how much you listen to a song, and if you listen to it all the way to the end, or skip it a few seconds into it.
I keep all my MP3's on a 80 gig USB drive so I can take it with my laptop. It's almost full.

I have always liked the iTunes layout more than WinAmp..it's just overall better, my :2 cents:

I don't like to steal MP3s. 95% or more of my MP3s are off of my own CDs. It's just easier to have them on my machine, and on my iPod, than to fiddle with CDs all the time.

Ya - most of my stuff is ripped from my own CD's - but I'm no longer in the market for buying a £15 CD for one or two good songs :winkwink:

quiet 04-27-2003 04:57 PM

the vast majority of my stuff is from cd as well.

BVF 04-27-2003 05:54 PM

why bother ripping songs from your own cd's when you can just download the individual songs more efficiently? All I do is look at the playlists of my cd's and download em.

I've only been on kazaa and a cable modem for two weeks and I'm flabberghasted by all of the shit I can get. I don't think I'll every buy a CD again...
