Lets Talk About Traffic
 

I just started to buy traffic a few months ago and I've been exchanging links with a few people that I trust but I've found that unless your site has been up for several years getting the kind of traffic we all want is allot harder then just going out and buying it.

Don't get me wrong - I'm doing okay but I was hoping to be doing much better by this time. I mean, you've got sites out they're that don't have much to offer and there getting allot more hits then sites that have something to offer.

For example, my site offers just about everything you could think of.

Free streaming clips - updated daily, downloadable high quality clips, adult games, erotic stories, jokes and so on... While other sites out there only offer links or a few clips and they get allot more hits.

Anyway, I was hoping that we could talk about this and if where lucky maybe even learn a few things.

People have always been telling me that you have to buy traffic and that's what I've been doing but allot of guys out there get a shit load of traffic and as far as I can see it's because they have had there site online for a long time and believe me, it has nothing to do with the quality of there site.

Another thing that I've found out is that getting your site listed on search engines isn't worth shit - it may had been a few years ago but that has definitely changed.

Your site doesn't seem to have a real focus, nor easy navigation. Also, it lacks a way to get surfers to visit your linktrades and such.

Your attempt to hotlink steakandcheese.com seems to have failed, btw.

Hehe... I'll be working on that page - got to pick the clips I like and upload them to my server.

It's clearly a movie site - I've got a scrolling message right on top of the page indicating that.
As for the links I have "Our Link Area" in bold letters with links right under it. Can't be more simple then that.

People are NOT going to see your 'link area'.

The logo says movies, but it looks like a banner. The scrolling thingy says something, but nobody reads those.
"Our link area" is in the bottom right of the page - you really think people are gonna look for that?

Besides that, your page suffers from a very common problem - too much focus on advertising, too little focus on getting traffic and getting bookmarkers.

Yea I'll have to do something about the banner but as far as the link area goes I can't think of anything better - I've seen allot worst. Heck, some people bury there link page behind a shit load of advertisements so having my links right on my main page is as far as I can't get.

As far as getting people to bookmark the site - well that's why I have clips that are updated daily - adult games and all that other shit on the site.

To much advertisement - only got a few banners on the whole site so I can't understand what your referring to.

Again, seen sites that have allot more advertisement and allot lest content and get a shit load more traffic then I do.

Maybe I should bury my links behind a shit load of advertisement - add 10 or so banners on each page and take down the content!

I would have to agree here.

Seriously I come to a tgp or mgp for one reason, easy access to porn. I dont want banners where the porn is supposed to be, I want the porn right infront of me with titles like "Michelle gets her ass rammed."

You have got to be kidding me.
First, you have a generic content site layout - with one exception, the content. Where other sites put content, you have put a smutnetwork ad, an aliver klozov ad and a "funny" picture that seems to have very little business there.
Where other sites have navigation, you have free video samples. However, they pop up in new windows - half the surfers will consider that blind links and close them before they see them. Also, since these are samples used by thousands of sites, it's nothing new to the surfer, nothing that would get him to bookmark.
On the right, you have pure ads, with your links trades buried at the bottom. All advertising, to the surfer.
At the bottom, you have some blind-linked pics.


Here's an example of what would be better:

Ofcourse, this is not a design, but rather a concept, but I think it makes the point clear - more prominent navigation, more prominent content, more prominent links.

Thing is that I had my site pretty much like you suggested and it wasn't doing any better, so I re-designed it to what you just saw.

Like TGF said, maybe I don't have a clue case to me it looks easy enough to navigate throw.

People told me that I should have the content right on the main page and now that I've done that your saying that I should have it behind links.

The only thing that I agree that needs to be changed is the banner on top of the page and maybe add more content in the center of the page rather then the smutnetwork banner thing.

Anyway, enough about what my site looks like - I can't please everyone! If I change it to what a few people say then others come back and tell me that they don't like it and so on... It's pointless and it never ends.
