Worst Blown Job Ever - (PIC)
http://www.demonwolfe.com/temp/maxtor/blown-chip.jpg
Yep, it sucked bad.... ;) I seriously am in need of this drive: Model 5T030H3 DiamondMax Plus 60 7200 RPM 30GB AT Disk Drive | HDA (23A) | PCBA (04A) | Unique (11A) | Code (TAH71DP0) | | Cylinders 16383 | Heads 16 | Sectors 63 | I'm sure the data is fine, I just need an identical drive to swap out the logic board... But DAMN it's hard to find the eXACT board.... (Yes, I tried Ebay, there is one with the same model, but the PCBA and HDA do not match, and Maxtor told me they HAVE to match exactly) Anyone got this drive I can buy off them? REALLY bad timing too, cause I just bought a new 100Gig Western Digital and I was going to transfer my stuff off this one in a couple days.... :( |
Ouch! That sucks man.
|
I dont know man... when I was 16 my girlfriend gave me her first blowjob ... her teeth made it so painfull and sore. The next day my prick was raw and a scab started to form.
|
Exxxotica, you got a pic of that?
Could be a new niche! ;) |

:1orglaugh what did maxtor say about their guarantee? |
I've got that exact HD, if not for my HDA # being 33 and not 23. If that turns out to not make a difference hit me up and we can work something out.
|
Hey DemonWolfe long time no see.. Hope all is good :)
Peace |
WHERE IS THE BLOWJOB PIC????!!!!
|
Maxtor says they will replace the hard drive (It's still under warranty), but they don't make the exact drive anymore....
Buckfutter, Damn dude... Maxtor said it had to match the "HDA, PCBA and Unique" or I risk messing up the data.... The rest of those numbers match up with your drive? It's amazing how many different versions they made with the same damn model number! -------- Martin, Whats up man? Well, since I lost my boot drive, I lost pretty much everything, so all is kinda sucky right now.... All my data files, settings, emails, ICQ's, Documents, bookmarks, and even some programs I didn't have backed up! ARGH.... Drop me an email so I at least have your addy to reply to. Lost that too! ;) |

Exxxotica - thanks for making me feel even better about my skills in that department. |

Hey Buckfutter,
Can you check out your drive and look on the lower right hand corner of the circuit board. There should be a name (or series of names) with a 9 digit number directly under it. I've just learned that if these match up, it might be a go! Hope you see this since I don't have your email. Thanks! John |
I fried a ATI Fire GL 4 a few months (weeks) back. That hurt, I had to temp replace it with a Geforce, ah well. Now that system is being used for programing.. hahaha.. not by me.
|
What the hell happened anyway? Did you jam a taser in their to try to speed up your drive? Lightning strike? Damn Sam, thats a REAL hardware failure.
|
Heh heh heh... No taser, but there was a puff of smoke and a terrible smell!
I was running the case open at the time so I got to see it all happen. |

Try any OEM board for that drive. I've done this before. Just swap the board, even if the drive size is different.
Try it.. what can it hurt! |

K668 (some bs before and after that) and below that: 0901 31C 3001 #10 ThinK I read that right, flashlight is upstairs and the drive is pluggedin to my box. Let me know if that is the right number. |
Couldn't you take it to a shop and see if they can replace just the chip on the board? Atleast than you could salvage you data and get a new drive...
|
<img src="http://www.brokecollegechicks.com/shizzy/drive.jpg">
The only this is that the 23A for the HDA is a 33A, but i can change that with a pen if you want :Graucho |
Smegma,
When I called Maxtor they told me that if the board I connected to it was not 100% correct, it would corrupt the data. :( Hell, I have 4 or 5 Maxtor 30 gigs around here, so I *WISH* I could just swap out any old board! ----------- Buckfutter, On circuit board itself on the bottom right hand corner. Like this: http://demonwolfe.com/temp/maxtor/board-type.jpg Mine says: BLUE-FISH,NAPA,BUF 301353102 1101 MAXTOR CORP Got my fingers crossed! ;) And thanks for checking for me, I appreciate it!! ------------------- Muff, I used to run a computer shop and I have worked in a few before I got into adult web, and I am pretty sure that while computer shops love to let the cutomers think they can perfrom repairs like that, they simply can not. They would have to have some way of ordering that exact chip from Maxtor (or whoever they contracted to manufacture that particular chip) and since everything is surface mount these days it would be a very hard solder job even for a pro. Not to mention that I am guessing by the NASTY way that chip blew, it might have messed up something else on the board also! ------------------- nobull, HA HA HA HA THat is about what the "data salvage experts" want me to pay them! Seriously though, they range from $200 - $9,000. Looks like I could probably send it off to an expert and get my data back for about $500, but I don't like sending hard drives through the mail (the heads might get damaged) and I don't trust some jack ass with my data! Besides, if I can just find this damn board I should be able to do it myself! WHOA... dude... I just noticed that YOUR drive was manufactured on the SAME DAY as my drive! MAY 5, 2001 Now why the hell do they have different HDA numbers for??????????????? Whats your circuit board say on it nobull????? |

Hot damn!
Can you hit me up in email: john at demonwolfe dot com I have not installed ICQ on this new hard drive yet, and since everything is so stable I am not sure that I am ever going to put ICQ back on.... I'll keep an eye out for your email and get right back to you! |
