Just dropped $1355.00 for a new water heater with install. Not only did the fucken plumber over charge me for the heater, but also charged $100 extra to come out on a Sunday...

what size water heater? When I was a plumber it was Time and a Half on Sundays... Double time if the job was more difficult than a water heater replacement.

I guess it should have been his good christian duty to come out on Sunday and install it for free?

Holy shit, you did get raped. A 50gallon gas heater should cost $200-$300 on average... add another $100 for the rest of the supplies (generous estimate).. so that leaves $935 for labor. Wow, what a jerk. You could get a bad ass submerged burn chamber type 50 gallon for about $800, but I'd guess you woulda mentioned that already. Was it a corporate chain or a guy with a truck and tools?

As far as the plumber goes... a solo guy would've been better. On the up side the corporate chain place will have a longer warranty, usually.
