Spammer using my email address
a spammer is using my return address as the reply-to:.
Of course I only get the bounces. I've gotten 10,000 so far today. I'm amazed that I have not gotten even one bitch so far but that can't last. His spams usually don't have affiliate tracking links, just straight links to his sponsor. Many of his sponsors are in USA. I need to stop this guy, but first I need to ID him. Outside of getting my lawyer involved to supeona the info from his sponsors, how can I ID this guy? He is using a different mail server every time, I'm sure he's relaying. Help appreciated. |
Just tell the sponsor whats going on
wich sponsor is it? |
Take a look in the mail path. usually it will have some info to start with.:thumbsup

different sponsors. He's obviously a spammer for hire.
Some of the bounces quote back HIS headers, which I think is what we need here. I've change my domain name to mydomain.com: Return-Path: <[email protected]> Received: (qmail 5540 invoked from network); 16 Mar 2003 23:38:17 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO email-96.ig.com.br) ([200.226.132.99]) (envelope-sender <uvilr@ mydomain.com>) by mailserver-3.ig.com.br (qmail-ldap-1.03) with SMTP for <[email protected]>; 16 Mar 2003 23:38:17 -0000 Received: (qmail 18189 invoked from network); 16 Mar 2003 23:11:49 -0000 Received: from mail.langstonwilliams.com (HELO mydomain.com) (204.229.126.206) by email-96.ig.com.br with SMTP; 16 Mar 2003 23:11:49 -0000 Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 10:49:00 -0600 From: "Fly the Legend" <uvilr@ mydomain.com> To: <[email protected]> Subject: Military Adventures in Russia - Fly to the Stratoshere! 200.226.132.99 resolves to email-96.ig.com.br

seriously your wasting your time if he is a pro spammer using proxy's and stuff, very hard to track unless you can contact all the proxy owners its gonna be hard to track, best set a filter to delete bounces,
i get the impression you pissed off a spammer and he is getting some revenge on you best of luck to you buddy |
I can't imagine how I'd piss off a spammer. Unless he also cheats my trades, but that's business. We all kick scammers off our trades.
How about by hassling his sponsors? they gotta be sending checks someplace. I can subpoena them, just don't want to go that route. I don't need to shut down this spammer, I just need to make enough trouble for him that he stops using my addy. |
What are you going to do if you do catch him?
Sue him in some third world country? |
I don't need to sue him. I don't even need to find out who he is.
I need to hassle his sponsors until I get his attention. I guess that's my answer. Please post if you have a better idea. |

My suggestion to you is to setup filters, or change your email, there is no way to find him, unless you are friends with the sponsor he is spammin.
Don't even try to close his accounts, if he is spamming, his sponsor allow him to do so. |
You could try and find a contact or an admin that runs this mail server email-96.ig.com.br
Probabably an unsecured server that he is using as a relay. They maybe able to help you find out who was relaying thru them. |

Do you know how many spammers were relaying that server? I don;t think you do. |
kill him :BangBang:

I'm not thinking so much of shutting down his sponsors as I am of sueing his sponsors.
What damages? It don't matter if there are damages. Filing the lawsuit will require a reply, and replies cost money. that's gotta eventually hurt that fuck. btw, I know how to filter. My concern is that I will catch heat for his spam. that's why I gotta make him stop even if it costs money. |

Yes this is true, but I just guess that he doesn't know who he spams |
