I went to a bar today. A bar that is withing walking distance. I am well known there and I spent a major portion of the day there. I am an ex military man and pretty much a super patriot. My military career was ended in the 1st Gulf War. Anyhow there were some young bucks talking smack about the military and Bush's policy towards Iraq. I am not a big fan of Bush but I am a big fan of our military. I basically told the young dude to shut the fuck up. Blows were exchanged. At my age and being physically fucked up, I still put the SOB down for the count and in fact me and my friend drove him to the hospital for treatment. AIRBORNE!!!!

Not sure if I belive this. However, our US service men and women deserve utmost respect despite political views. They are the ones spending countless times away from friends and family etc. doing ther jobs. As a vet myself I am easily angered when I see some , for example, trust fund frat boy talking smack about service members.

There are times when it's cool to speak your mind and as Americans we are lucky to have that freedom. However like you, I don't mind exercising my freedom of speech as well to teach some punk ass bitch the meaning of respect.

Edit: I should make it clear that I don't agree with bad-mouthing our military. It is there for a reason and serves and extremely important purpose. The problem is that you have perverted that purpose. I consider myself a patriot. I love my country, but what I love about is it's purest form, where people are free to criticize it. That's the whole point. One of my very few regrets is that I didn't serve in the military but that doesn't mean I don't love my country.

Another edit: I do love my country. I don't care much for it's government or the direction it has been heading as of late.

Well, that's a different issue. I'm not unrealistic. People have limits and violence happens. A personal attack is a different matter. If he said YOU are scum because YOU served in the military and YOU deserve to be blah blah blah... then I can understand a physical response. I couldn't have said it any better. Everyday since 9/11 we have lost a little bit more freedom. When the military brags about beating the people thet are sworn to protect we have reached a new low. People who serve their country in the defense of that country deserved the highest repect any citizen can give. But that doesn't give you the right to pound them because they said something you don't like. Let me see if I have this straight. You spent 12 years in the 82nd Airborne. That means for 12 years you spent almost every waking moment practicing how to kill people, in hand to hand combat if necessary. And you are in here bragging about beating the shit of some kid probably barely old enough to get in a bar, and certainly not a highly trained killing machine, that is low man. You must be real proud that you had to drive this kid to the emergency room. Why? Because he pissd you off.

If there were to be any charges being filed it would be me, I think, filing the charges. I told the kid to shut the fuck up and me being at least 20 years older and quite smaller he tried to take me out. Unfortunately for him, even though I have a physical problem, I am an experienced man and he was just a punk ass kid. So good night kid, plus when I am attacked as I stated in a TDF thread, make it so good that a person does not ever want to come back for more, thus the hospital. I have already conversed with the police and they will make their report to the DA and that is where it will end.
