Usenet Going Down?
 

I wonder when the usenet will get taken out by the current administration.

If they are attacking & shutting down the "drug paraphenilia" sites and piercing the waivers that have been protecting the obviously illegal wares... then why couldn't they do it for usenet?

Those big usenet guys aren't going to be able to hide behind waivers & disclaimers saying they can't control whats posted to the usenet, while at the same time they are running 50 terrabyte raid arrays and shit :1orglaugh

Usenet's days are numbered I think. Too much evil on the usenet.

It's already happening. There is some case out there where ALScan is going after an online news service which has the group which users post mostly their pictures to.

Question is where do we draw the line between freedom of speech and the right to protect what you own.

I personally think it is all bullshit. The Govt is taking the cheap way out by going after the service provider when they should be going after the original copyright infringer, the poster of the news article.

ALScan will not be able to shut down the usenet. Maybe if a group of companies & industries like MPAA, RIAA, tons of software and content publishers came together.. then COMPANIES could shut it down.

But what I'm talking about is the government coming in, looking around & saying ":1orglaugh, fools, no more of this." and if you fight it.. they beat you to a bloodly pulp :) (legally anyway)
