I Just Saw Daredevil

Okay, if you stop to think about it, all these superhero guys in special tight-fitting outfits is kind of gay, and this movie, while kind of cool in terms of fight scenes and special effects is not quite up to par by comparison with X-Men or Spiderman, but it does have Jennifer Garner (the girl from Alias). Not only is she supermodel HOT, she's also a martial artist and does most of her fight scenes herself. I think she's got a BIG future in action movies.

BTW, I'm starting to see previews for Quentin Tarantino's next movie. It appears to be a martial arts epic, and it stars Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu (you know: the Asian girl from the Charlie's Angels movie). From the previews, it looks fantastic.

Do you see the above part? That is as far as I got into your thread. That reason alone is why I will not go see the movie and you did. :glugglug

DrewKole 02-14-2003 05:03 PM

I just got back from seeing it too...

It was ok... some of the effects they did were just fucking confusing, like the barfighting scene, its hard to focus...

Hella cool the way they did the shockwave effects... I agree about Jennifer...

And Im a big fan of Michael Clarke Duncan, fucker is swoll!

Bullseye was cooler than Daredevil tho... I dunno... It wasnt as good as I thought it would be, but... I'd see it again.

I didnt see the preview for the lucy lui film, I love her... I even bought that fuckin piece of shit, ballistic movie too...

Here's a tip for aspiring directors... IF YOU LET THE FUCKING ACTORS DO SHIT THEMSELVES, ATLEAST SPEED IT UP...

Watching the fight scenes in ballistic was like watching a slow motion wrestling match.

Have you ever seen the movie "Diner"....Mickey Rourke and Ellen Barkin movie theater scene....it is pretty funny, even after she busts him with his unit sticking up though the box, he runs out into the lobby and puts her back together...what a stud!

I heard Jace and I missed a night out drinking with you and boneprone......next time:glugglug

Here's a link to the trailer for Kill Bill

kaylacam 02-14-2003 05:24 PM

I was SUPPOSED to go see it today with my bf, but...*sigh* We ran out of time by the time we finished lunch, maybe next week.
9 times out of 10, the villians are the BEST part of comics/comic-based films.

evildick 02-14-2003 05:39 PM

I would have went to see it, but Ben Affleck just ruins it for me. I can't watch anything with him in it. Why couldn't they have picked someone else? (except Matt Damon)

NoCarrier 02-14-2003 05:40 PM

The kind of movie you get out of the theater and forget about it as soon as you leave.

Rictor 02-14-2003 05:45 PM

It's a good flick.

I feel the same way

gothweb 02-14-2003 05:55 PM

I saw it a few hours ago, didn't think to post. I thought it was pretty cool. Affleck has two acting modes: excellent, and mediocre. The great movies are few and far between...

This time, it's hard to tell. He doesn't really act a lot. Still, the movie was a lot of fun. Good effects (the sonar), hot girl, fun action scenes, interesting dark feel. Good enough for me, I had fun.

Nysus 02-14-2003 06:07 PM

I saw Avril Lavigne walking down Yonge Street earlier today... I was walking opposite direction.. we made eye contact for about 3 seconds.. was quite an interesting moment.. She followed my eyes.. and I watched her sparkling eyes.... Ahhh... I fell in love.. :)
She was wearing a babyblue baseball cap too.. was with her posse/band.. and a few civilian dressed bodyguards behind her..

I think my luck has been good past few days... Maybe I should run and buy some lotto tickets..

Cheers,
Matt

Looks like another Charlie's Angels movie. Tarantino is falling behind the times.

i saw it also,
it killed spiderman, the scenes in comparrison when they were swinging spiderman looked like a cartoon daredevil looked real.

people just say spiderman is better because hes more of a well known character.

boneprone 02-14-2003 07:19 PM

The Daredevil is Blind.

How effective can a blind guy be?

This is just too fucking silly.

Dax 02-14-2003 07:21 PM

I saw the movie last night.. and I was not too happy.. I m a bit dissapointed.... I thought it was gonna be better....

Brown Bear 02-14-2003 08:08 PM

The movie looks crap to me

TDF 02-14-2003 08:10 PM

I look good in leather

I thought they both looked cartoonish. What they never explained is how he could jump off a building, drop 30 stories, and land on his feet without at least breaking his ankles (though in real life, he'd be dea for sure). Being blind can't explain that.

On the other hand, if everything in every movie had to be totally plausible, movies would be pretty boring. Still, an explanation would have been nice.

And I say it again, Jennifer Garner rocks no matter what she's in!

i myself loved the effects of the building jumping, even though the real kingpin is white :1orglaugh

Ben Asslick is an annoying arrogant cock. I can't watch him without wanting to throw something at the screen. I grew up with a guy that looked and acted just like him. Fuckwad.

Did you collect Daredevil comic books as a kid or something? You seem to love the guy.

I usually just stand up and shout, "Ben Afleck sucks!" My wife won't go to see any of his movies with me now.

Kevin Smith wrote a really good run on Daredevil a few years ago. I owned a comic book store at the time and we had a lot of people coming in for the first time just because they wanted to read a comic by Kevin Smith.

I'm waiting for the day that Stephen King wants to write a Batman story. He wrote the introduction to Batman #400 in 1986 telling why he liked Batman and he wrote a few pages for an X-Men charity book but that is the closest he has come to comics.

Chichio 02-15-2003 02:47 AM

Couldn't drag me to see that film. I think Ben is an ok guy, just can't see him as a super hero. Guess it's kinda like Michael Keaton as Batman...I just ain't buying it.

anyone seen 'adaptation' or 'Gangs of New York'?

If you want to rent a good movie rent 'Gangster Number 1'

Funbrunette 02-15-2003 08:21 AM

I've heard good and awful reviews about this movie...I'm just really interested in seeing Ben in a tight red leather suit! :Graucho

It's an old style kung fu flick with a little OT thrown in for good measure. Kill Bill is gonna rock!

I agree. It's probably the only movie I'll actually get out of the house to see this year.

Adaptation was overrated, I thought. A very good movie, but I wouldn't nominate for an Oscar. Gangs of New York is an Oscar-level movie, but not quite the accomplishment The Two Towers is.
