You survive, and then are executed by Rebel Forces in Columbia.

4 American Civilians killed.

All I caught was, a plane went down with 4 American civilians and 1 columbian.

They thought everyone had died in the crash.

But they just flashed breaking news that some survived but had been captured by Columbian Rebel Forces and executed.

not much else known.

I am half Colombian and I went to visit there when I was 13 years old. I went to Bogota, the capital city to meet my relatives that still live down there and that place is an awesome scenic place to visit but the amount of crazy shit that happens there is amazing. While I was there they blew up a front of a mall and there were numerous shootings, it was like a warzone.... that place is possibly the most corrupt area in the western hemisphere. It is rated in the top 5 of most dangerous places to vacation.

We live on a friendly planet don't we.

Everytime I've ever traveled outside the USA I come back here and just want to kiss the ground. We're fucked up too, but other places are way worse.

BOGOTA, Colombia (Reuters) - Two people were found shot dead near a U.S. government plane that crashed in a rebel-dominated area of Colombia, sources said on Friday, and a senior Colombian military officer identified the pair as Americans who apparently had been slain execution style.
There was no confirmation of the identities of the two bodies.

The plane was carrying five people -- four Americans and a Colombian -- when its engine failed on Thursday and it crashed in a jungle area in southern Caqueta province, which is largely dominated by rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, a 17,000-member guerrilla army known as FARC.

A source familiar with the investigation who asked not to be identified said the two people who had been shot dead were found near the plane's wreckage. The source declined to say anything further about their identity, nationality or exact manner of death.

A senior Colombian military officer told Reuters on condition of anonymity the two bodies were Americans and that he feared the other three crew members may have been kidnapped by rebels of the Marxist FARC. The officer said the slain pair appeared to have been killed execution style.

The single-engine Cessna plane, which the Colombian military said was on an "intelligence mission," crashed on Thursday morning near the city of Florencia, capital of Caqueta province, as it was attempting an emergency landing after engine failure, U.S. officials said.

A State Department spokeswoman said the Americans aboard the plane were civilian specialist contractors conducting a routine U.S.-Colombian mission and that a massive search and rescue effort had been launched.

Caqueta is largely dominated by rebels from FARC, which is listed by Washington as a "terrorist" organization. The rebels have long declared U.S. personnel operating in Colombia as "military targets."

The plane went down near the village of Puerto Rico, some 250 miles south of Bogota, Colombia's military said.

If any Americans have been kidnapped by rebels, it would be the first time in its four-decade war that the FARC has taken hostage Americans working for the U.S. government.

Wary of being dragged into a messy war that claims the lives of thousands every year, Washington has gradually invested more money and personnel in Colombia. Washington has more than 500 personnel in Colombia, including 267 military personnel and 270 civilian contractors.

The United States has spent about $2 billion in mostly military aid in recent years to help the war-torn Andean nation destroy the world's largest cocaine industry.</font>
