vbulletin question
I have a question about vbulletin, and I know there are a few people around here that run some decent sized forums. I thought I would askl my question here, rather than vbulletin.com.
I have a fresh 3.8x installed, and created a bridge from my site's login system. Everything works great. Now, after doing a few hours of work, I am wrestling with the idea of getting the 4.2x version. Should I? Will I see any better functionality? I don't need menu's, blogs, or cms bullshit. Just forums with some bells and whistles. And I'm not sure if I will have to re-hack my bridge. Thoughts? Jay |
I regret changing my forum from SMF to vBulletin 4.2. I thought my forum would get better than before but no, it's lacking some very basic features than even these free forum scripts have.
So no, there's no reason to get vBulletin 4.2. |
Depends.
If your users are content with 3.8.x stay with it. A lot of the features are moved around in 4.2 and it frustrates some into not returning. BTW, VB 5 is right around the corner. |
phpBB3 FTW

I suggest creating a new database, installing the 4.2x to see if you like it. (I prefer the 3.8.x) If you're happy with 4.2.x you can easily move your 3.8.x database to the 4.2.x. To upgrade, you'll be stuck with 4.2.x with no other options. |
