Reading this article you would think suing (and winning) porn sites for copyright violations would be easy.

according to the local sources, the key ingredient was this:

"Bosley and her husband negotiated with the photographer for rights to the photos, which they registered with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2004...."

thus enabling them to pursue violations for any reproductions after that date.

And yet someone owns the copyright to every photo on a pirate tube site and nothing seems to happen.

But I think there is a significant difference between implied copyright and actually going through the expense and steps necessary to get an image or video copyrighted by the copyright office. The later giving you much more legal authority to pursue infringers. But again, I stress I am certainly no expert on this topic
