Doomsday luxury condos in missile silo.

"They worry about events ranging from solar flares, to economic collapse, to pandemics to terrorism to food shortages,"

"So far, four buyers have plopped down a total of about $7 million for havens to flee to when disaster happens or the end is nigh. And developer Larry Hall has options to retro-fit three more Cold War-era silos when this one fills up"

Except all the neighbors know what it is and in the event of anything going really wrong the base will be looted and occupied by hoards of locals before the real owners even have a chance to arrive...how do I know this? Ask me what happened to all the banks the MOMENT war broke out in my country :1orglaugh man I was sprinting to the state bank but it was long empty :1orglaugh

Here is what I don't understand about people who invest in literal "end of the world" bunkers. Most of them are doing somewhere other than their own back yard. How dumb is that?

This in mind, how much advanced warning do they think they are going to get during such a situation where they would have to flee to an underground bunker? I'm better there is no warning at all, as that would be in the best interest of every government during a catastrophic event. Otherwise it would be chaos.

Lets assume there is a EMP and electronics are knocked out. Are they going to ride bicycles to their bunker?

And I hope these people never go on holiday and are out of town with the shit hits the fan, assuming shit does hit the fan.

While I commend them for their efforts, building anything elsewhere to prepare for the worst just seems like a really, really bad idea.

"I think somebody spent too much time on the Internet" Reporter.

Would like to see these condos when they are finished.

we'll all survive and they will suffocate because most of those contraptions don't have proper air flow and ventilation installed...

I saw this on the news this morning. He paid $300k for the silo and people have invested $7million into buying his apartments. Nice.

I'm not worried about the end of the world. I'm worried about a small local disaster. My home town was recently evacuated due to a propane fire on a train, and years ago I lived through the loma prieta earthquake where we had no power for three days. I'm ready.

preparing for stuff like natural disasters is always a good idea. nobody would argue that i'm sure.

you never know, could always be an underground grow op. people that spend money on this type of thing generally find a way to wash it clean and at least break even on opulent purchases
