It's a Car of the Year by Sport Compact Car mag. SRT-4 just blows the competition .

asuna 01-31-2003 09:09 PM

215hp turbo lil bomb, I'm SURE it'll move fast, its a dodge, but not very reliable, and the design kinda sucks, but i wouldn't mind one

There is no kit. I ordered one just like the one in the picture(only silver and not orange).
SRT4 is not RT, it's different vehicle. 0-60: 5.6 seconds.... 1/4 mile: 14.2 at 102 mph ......... Only downside is I have to wait 3 - 4 months for it:(

init 01-31-2003 09:56 PM

damn, should have waited a few more months to get my car then  oh well, my car doesnt look that bad :winkwink:

In mid-2004 Lotus will begin selling the Elise in the USA as a 2005 model. The you guys will see what small performance cars are all about.

You want to compare Lotus to SRT4?:1orglaugh
Where can I buy that Lotus for $19 000 US?

PhotoShopGuy 01-31-2003 10:36 PM

Where can you buy any hand-built car for $19k?
You find them, I'll take a dozen.

That's what I mean, you can not compare Lotus with SRT4,
not in the same category

Really, I never knew they were v6, I guess you learn something every day.

So what are the specs on the engine? I assume it isn't just the standard V6 that comes in other stangs, because, well that wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah, theres no couples/'small cars' that go faster then 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.

The neon is not that fast. It isn't very light, it needs a turbo to get it's 'powerful' 215 horsepower. And it's not very torquey!

Not to rain on your parade, its a nice car and should be very fun, but it is not the fastest small car you can buy.

Most stage 1's aren't v6's. =) They are gt's or cobra's.

Guess this guy wanted to impress his friends, I dunno... I woulda spent the cash gettin a real engine.

Yeah, I had never even heard of the V6 model, but then again most of the people I talk to are 'v8 or bust' types ;)

I honestly hope there was at least something done to the v6 to boost performance though, it would be a shame to have a Roush that is slow as shit, would be kind of emarassing getting toasted constantly.

What is the price of a SRT-4 in US?

Andre

PhotoShopGuy 02-01-2003 07:30 AM

Why not get the Suburu WRX if you're just intent on getting a small 4 banger. It does 0-60 in 5.7, not to shabby. Or wait for the Lotus, its only a small non-turbo 4 banger with amazing handling and looks, and a removable top.

actually before you talk shit you should have read up first:
http://www.roushperf.com/mustst1price.htm , and why spend over 31k on a stage 2 with a v8 when i could spend 25k and drop in a cratter v8 for less then 3k

It is pretty light, 2 800 lbs, it's faster than Subaru WRX, faster even than Nissan 350Z and leaving the new Mini Cooper S and the Acura RSX Type-S in the dust. That's SportCompactCar mag. says. Not torquey? Talk about S2000 that car has NO torque at all. Horsepower as Measured at the Wheels is 223 hp @ 5600 rpm, Torque as Measured is 250 lb-ft @ 3100 rpm, 0-60: 5.6 seconds....

Well congrats on getting a new car, having said that. I'm sorry but I can't stand Dodge. I've had nothing but badluck with american cars. GM, Dodge, Ford, all = crap in my mind. The only american cars I'd buy are the classics where you expect to pay for some repairs, like an old Mustang Fastback, a GTO, a Charger. Something like that.

I see a triked up Neon on the street, I stil laugh and expect some 18 yrs old Eminem wannabe to be driving it.

And as for the guy who tried to compare the Lotus to the Neon, you're nuts. Yes the Lotus Elise is a nice car, must be a great ride, but the price tag is nowhere NEAR it. At least compare apples to apples buddy.

SRT4 is not on the street yet, SRT4 is not Neon, yes it has body parts from Neon, but that's about it. This will be just a fun car, as I still keep my minivan:Graucho

Because you can still keep a warranty? Because not everyone buys a car and instantly does an engine swap?

By your logic, why not buy a 1k shitter car and do a 'mad engine swap'?

I like torquey cars! Makes them much more fun to drive, regardless, the point is when you have small cars breaking the 300rwtq mark, with more horsepower and only around 200 lbs more weight, how can anyone claim the neon is the fastest 'small car' ?

Are your last specs for the SRT4? Because even the dodge website only says 0-60 5.9, 215 HP and less torque then you mentioned. Does dodge really under rate their engines that much?

Yes Dodge underrates their engines, I guess to be on the safe side, not like Hyundai LOL, Sport Compact Car mag. tested SRT4 and those are their numbers.

LOL RSX-S produces 200 horsepower, BUT full 200 horsepower doesn't show up until you're at a stratospheric 7,400 rpm. LOL
In lower RPM not much, and torgue - Nothing, just like most Hondas. 142 lb.-ft. @ 6000 rpm for RSX-S is fucking joke, and NO it's not faster than SRT4, Zero to 60 in 6.3 seconds for RXS-S

ok let me tell you something now, the only difference between my stage 1 and the v8 stage 1 is, the engine, in the v8 one, they did no engine mods what so ever, as far as the warranty goes, uhm hello.... i buy the engine straight from ford and get a warranty, so as i said before, why pay 6k more for a car that is the same as mine other then the engine which can be bought for less then 3k

uhm performance wise as in engine, there are no mods until you get to a stage 2, they have stage 1 v6 and v8, the stage 1 v8 has no engine mods, so are you calling that a domestic ricer?, the only diff in hp between my car and a gt is 60 hp, like i said before i am going to drop a v8
