TopBucks - $40 or 80%?

Which one is better?

FlyingIguana 01-30-2003 11:46 PM

i'd go pps

Pornkings 01-30-2003 11:47 PM

I personally always go with the trial/pps no rev share.
I like my money up front

It's always good to mix it up a little bit. I prefer per signup for sponsors who license feeds or who don't have exclusive content. The reason behind this is that surfers will see the same stuff over and over in different paysites so the risk factor of a surfer cancelling increases. As such, I prefer a flat rate per customer acquired. But for sites that have exclusive content, I don't mind revshare, but as Roger said I prefer per signup in most cases.

pps. revshare can never beat pps unless you have at least an initial above 65% conversion from trial. industry average is 25%-35% at best.

with a top notch members area revshare can beat pps. you just have to find the right sites to promote.

Yeah I did a comparison mathematically for TopBucks the other day PPS and REVSHARE.

PPS = $40 per trial signup.
RevShare = 80% - 10% (estimated processing fees) = 70%

1000 signups in any given month.

PPS = $40.00 x 1000 = $40,000 first month.

RevShare variables:

Trial Membership: $4.95 initial.
Monthly charge at site is: $39.99 regular subscription.
Conversion trial to regular: 30%
Month to Month member retention: 80%

At those rates it took 2 years (24 months) to get $45,206.64.

With interest and investment on the initial PPS $40,000, you would probably have at least that amount in 2 years.

Revshare you also have to worry about chargebacks AND the sponsor or CC company staying in business for the full 2 years! Big risk these days if you ask me.

what scares me on major per signup sponsors are the upsales in their members areas. If you're on revshare you are fucked.

Go with $40/trial. Recurring pays $27.17/month plus the trial, which is the percentage from $4.95 (if processed by Epoch) or $1.95 (by iBill) . So, on average you need almost 2 months retention for every signup, but as you have cancellations, plus the spectrum of possible chargebacks here and there going retroactively, it's better to get paid per signup.

Top Bucks pay per sign up is fine but whatever you do, don't use their partnership program.

The $40 really works out to be the best.
