FreeBSD Demon

I love this guy... So much that I had him tattoo'd on my wrist today. Who's the walking advert for UNIX?

www.freebsd.org has a pic of my demon I named 'Travolta' -- will be going in for my portrait of lensman on my back tomorrow.

Post the pic of Chuck! I've been running even my
home boxes since 2.2.6-R

iroc409 01-30-2003 11:26 PM

yay! FreeBSD in the hizzouse!

still running 2.2.7-R on an OLD laptop... runs great. i love FreeBSD.

r-c-e 01-30-2003 11:31 PM

jesus, 2.2.6? Good effort son.

I hope you've cvs'ed them all the way to 4.7! :)

Linux in general has many more neat little tools than a unix OS... but if your going for a desktop OS try gentoo.

Read some loser nerds having long arguments about Distros...

debian???? Holy crap... are you 12 years old or somthing? If I had a 4 year old son he would run debian. (But I don't and he doesn't)

iroc409 01-31-2003 12:06 AM

if you _have_ to have linux, go slack. it's ver bsd-ish.

ever thought about turning on the linux compatibility feature in freebsd? i don't run a lot of x stuff yet, but it runs linux stuff awesome.

i guess tho, FreeBSD isn't exaclty for the n00b, it's a little more difficult by nature. so, then use redhat when you want brainless basic operation. even installing crap is brainless in redhat, unless it's something that's supposed to be installed and isn't and won't install the new stuff... arrrgh!

this comment, in support of my brainlessness. not that easy isn't good, but it usually lacks true flexibility, and ultimately headaches. but that's just my experience. i like the blue dos-ish install screens and configuring everything in vim.

hey, you're an emacs user, aren't you?! xemacs?

crazy-ass widescreen monitor?

i've actually considered being lame and installing kde/gnome on a FreeBSD box instead of using windowmaker or something, but i dunno yet. it's pretty, but not sure if it's necessary. been a long time since i've played with kde :)

btw.. what are you running for your windows emulator? doesn't look what i remember of wine...

MonkeyMan 01-31-2003 12:32 AM

Dual monitors

Win4Lin

iroc409 01-31-2003 12:34 AM

fuxu 01-31-2003 01:19 AM

I dont have a camera, anyone here in LA have a picture? I'll go to the tattooing place tomorrow and ask him to upload a picto me, cause he has a digital camera he uses to take pics of all the original work he's done, he might've uploaded it to his site if he has one. I will check for a site right now.
