I grabbed these from a usenet groups: Newsgroups: alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.group,alt.binaries.p ictures.erotica.voyeuris,alt.binaries.pictures.ero tica.voyeurism,alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.voyeu rism.hidden-camara,alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.voyeurism.hid den-camera,alt.binaries.pictures.voyeurism

This guy is doing the same to me and 2 other webmasters as well. He is registering similar domains altering the images with this url and sending the traffic to them first and then redirecting.

Well first off in Len's rules:

Second off what happens when this guy stops promoting platinum sites and he has all these identical domain names (except for being .net, .org etc...) getting traffic?

3rd off all of lens images have been altered with these urls and the whole batch spammed in newsgroups to be distributed and reposted for years with these urls on them.

4th now all these hundreds of pics are going to pop up on sites all over from idiots thinking it's "public domain" because they found it in a newsgroup.

It would not be as bad if he had not altered the pics and registered matching domains. (Clever on his part yes) but not good IMO for me or any other business owner/ photographer.

Anyways I did my part, just looking out for others, next time I will just worry about myself.

I didnt see the specific newsgroup posts, but usually half the crap on newsgroups today is spam though.

Why was I there?

I was looking at alt.binaries.pictures.voyeurism (like I usually do periodically) and found them. I just copied and pasted the other groups he cross posted in from the message's properties.

He is also posting messages with and without images with hyperlinks.
Doh.

I used to use the newsgroups to advertise for my own sites back in the day. Worked very well back then.

But the newsgroups are dead now. The only folks trolling those areas are hackers and spammers.

So one reason it's not a good idea to use the newsgroups nowadays is because of all the attention your giving your sites to the wrong type of pple. If you want consistant and relentless hack attempts at your servers for months to come, go ahead and advertise on newsgroups. It's a waste of time and energy now. No one beneficial to paysites uses them anymore.
