Recording Shit
What's the best way to input a guitar / bass guitar sound into your computer for mixing and shit? Right now I just have a mic next to my amp, which blows for quality.
Also, what software is good for recording a guitar, then recording a bass, then recording drums, then voice...and mixing them all together? |
My grandma may know :(

I ususlaly jsut lay down everythign onto ADAT then transfer to PC. But the software/optical card for that is 500$ alone so if your on a budget grab one of the soundblaster external cards.... tehy'll do what you want. You can track in somthing like acid and soundforge is the best for WAV editing. wish I could give more info but its pass out time./ |

Hey, I do all my recording on a PC. I have a recording studio here (both Mac and PC based). I prefer:
http://www.cubase.com/ is a link for info about Cubase, the software I use. Also hardware-wise if you want it to sound pro you need an excellent sound card like the Layla (http://www.pcrecording.com/laylarev.htm) If you want to go cheaper, the Duo is great (http://www.zzounds.com/love.music?p=p.MDODUO&f=2035). If you want to hear stuff I did on the PC, check out http://www.spirit53.com |
Yeah what MarkTiarra said....... Cubase is cool. Used it a lot in the past. Great software. I play a lot of keys these days and have ended up using Sonar by cakewalk. I like the midi editing on that better than cubase. It all ends up in Pro Tools by time we are done though. For me guitars still sound best with a mic shoved right up to the speaker of a nice tube amp. I use a Tech 21 Samsamp preamp and a dbx compressor to record my bass directly to the sound card. No board at all. That works very well.

Speaking of recording and shit... Who has Cubase Sx 1.02 ? and can put it online for me ? Hit me up ...
Thnx |
I'm looking to go fairly low budget, so I think I'm going to go with the Audigy series of stuff. I already have a SB Audigy, would the Extigy going into my USB be good enough? Or should I go ahead and get the whole SB Audigy 2 package?
