Slim-Fast (RESULTS)

After using it for a week, eating heathy food only, and exercising a bit, I lost a total of ZERO pounds in 7 days.

Tastes bad and works worse.

Joined a gym this week, so that might work better. Btw Im 182 pounds and about 6 foot.

Spunky 01-26-2003 11:00 PM

Tried it and after amonth...I lost 5 pounds

Its just a simple matter of burning more calories than you take in.

Eat some chicken, get on an elyptical machine.

I am a pudgy bitch and have the tendency to gain weight very easily when I sit in front of my computer 16 hours a day, smoking pot, downing 6 packs of coke, and eating shit food.

Ever so often I notice my clothes getting a little to tight so I freak out, go on a chicken, water, and andro diet... return to the weights and cardio machines, and manage to burn off a good 7 to 10 lbs in a little over a weeks time. Then I get happy I lost the weight again and fall back into my usual pattern.

Starvation, slim fast, isnt the answer.

andi_germany 01-26-2003 11:09 PM

What do you consider healthy food?
Did you replace a meal with Slim Fast or did you take it as supplement?
What milk did you use to mix slim fast or did you use the cans?

You will have to reduce fat and sugar to loose weight. 9500 calories are 2 Pounds of weight. So its not that easy.

But using a Gym is always a good idea :Graucho

Babaganoosh 01-26-2003 11:14 PM

I found the solution to weightloss for myself. Dump the soda for Arizona Green Tea. Eat one real meal a day. When you get hungry, eat a couple of White Cheddar Corn Cakes from Quaker. They are just about like rice cakes except they are actually really tasty. Those things must swell up to 5 times their normal size in your stomach. Within about 10 minutes of eating 2 cakes, I am full for a couple of hours.

I'm 5'11 and about 180-185 and I definetly don't need to go on a diet.

Scoobs 01-26-2003 11:39 PM

My wife and I use Weight Watchers... I dont know if you have that in the US, but I have lost 13kg (not sure how many pounds that is) over the past 6 months with them, and you get to eat whatever food you want... My wife and I have done a lot of diets (Jenny Craig plus others) and Weight Watchers is BY FAR the best because you can actually sustain it for long periods due to the variety of food that you can eat.

And the best part is, you dont even have to :repuke after eating.

Just my :2 cents:

jimmy3way 01-26-2003 11:39 PM

Actually if you pay attention to your metabolism losing weight isn't hard.

I was thinking what a fat bitch I was after Vegas, so I swore off the booze and started hitting the bike more and I dropped like 20 lbs since then.

I figure at least ten of that was booze weight from Vegas.

EscortBiz 01-26-2003 11:41 PM

you are too skinny if you are 185 and 6ft, start to eat and workout

If you will lose more weight you will end up lookin lik that skinny kid from the Movie Road trip

whats your diet?

mpegposter 01-27-2003 12:27 AM

Anyone hear about those weight breathalyzers they have now? You blow into it and it charts your metabolism, tells you what your ideal caloric intake would be. Pretty neat, I'm not fat so I don't really care.

Find something you enjoy doing, i.e. tennis ice skating swimming or even boxing, and do that. Swimming actually burns the most calories if you're so inclined. A friend of mine got a plastic boxing dummy and it seems like a neat idea. Beat something up for 30 minutes a day and get great cardio and burn off some of the McDonalds.

Really the key is to watch what you eat. More fat people die from going to the gym suddenly than you could imagine. The shock their body goes through between lardass and sudden exertion is enough to cause cardiac arrest, no joke.

RedShoe 01-27-2003 12:36 AM

I probably put on 10lbs today just watching the sports competition that was on earlier. Chips and soda pop.

Safe, effective and you can actually eat. Couple that with a little cardio a few times a week and you're all set.

Wow you guys are nuts, just like yo yo dieting....

If you want to keep the weight off you are going to have to make a conscious decision to make a change. Sure you can still eat the things you like, you just have to make smart choices when you eat. Everything in moderation, including moderation!

Drink tons of water, stay away from the soft drinks. If you do have soft drinks make sure they are diet. I know at first they suck but you will get used to it. Also try and eat more chicken and less fatty red meats...

I have been going to the gym with a trainer for the past 3 months and I have taken off over 25 pounds, plus gained a bunch of muscle. My endurance is getting pretty awesome! I make my trainer charge me every single time without fail. That way if I ever miss an appointment I have to pay for it. And I fucking hate giving money away for nothing!

But the best thing is you just feel better all over and have a much more positive attitude. I would definetely whole heartedly recommend someone who wants to get in shape to hire a trainer. That way you can learn new excercises the safe way, he/she is there to motivate you and also give you feedback on your progress. Best money I ever spent!

Sorry if I seem upset, but WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET THE IDEA THAT ONE MEAL A DAY IS HEALTHY?????

Did you even READ your own Thread ??

Cheshire 01-29-2003 04:23 PM

If you're telling us the truth, then you need to give your body more than 7 days to start showing results. It could be that the second or third week gives you those practically overnight results you're looking for ~ but rarely can you achieve that in the first 7 days.

It pisses me off when people cheat on their diets and then complain that they haven't lost any weight. Your body gives back what you put in. I'm not perfect on my diet and exercise, and my weight fluxuates accordingly ~ but I have no one to blame but myself when I eat pizza and ice cream and gain a couple pounds. And I take all the credit when I'm hardcore for a week and I get tight.

Just seems like your a little touchy on this diet subject. I think your very beautiful and have a great personality, but if a person has to work very hard at looking good is it even worth it.:2 cents:

Sorry had to edit to much shit that was really to personal and none of my business:thumbsup

Thank you for the compliments.
What you're picking up as my being 'touchy' is how upset I get when someone cheats their diet and then complains that it didn't work.
I don't 'work hard' so much as I take responsiblity for how my body looks and feels ~ if I eat like crap and then I feel like crap, I'm not going to complain to other people like a victim that the guidelines I didn't stick to are pointless.
And if I may ask ~ what's so wrong about working hard if the results dwarf the effort?

kelly 01-29-2003 05:14 PM

Check back to what I posted in your original thread, this stuff will not make you slim in the long term, eat a healthy carb based breakfast, make up a big pot of fresh veggie soup to snack on inbetween meals, eat 3 solid meals a day and make sure to drink a LOT of water, keep a 2 litre bottle beside the pc to guzzle on.

Nothing wrong with hard work as long as it dont consume ones entire life and/or make a person bitter. Cheshire Im not saying not to work hard at looking good as we all here enjoy the results of your hard work but what Im trying to say is dont let it effect your attitude. You just sounded a little bitchy(for a lack of a better word) when you first posted. No disrespect:thumbsup

cold_ice 01-29-2003 05:54 PM

Just on a side note I was also comparing you to a person I know that works to hard at being fit that sometimes they are a drag to be around.:glugglug

Nope I am in Vancouver... I used to go to the Bloor Park Club when I worked in downtown Toronto. It is awesome, great equiptment, plenty of hot chicks and has some great facilities... It is a bit pricey but well worth it.

To be fair ~ you don't know me.

And where I was sounding bitchy was when I said
"Sorry if I seem upset, but WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET THE IDEA THAT ONE MEAL A DAY IS HEALTHY?????"

You'd prefer I say nothing while someone is starving themself? Fine, f*ck him, let him starve his body because I don't want to risk sounding bitchy.

aeon 01-29-2003 06:05 PM

You might try instead of that slimfast crap-fad diets, doing 30 minutes of light cardio as soon as you wake up every morning-on an empty stomach and drink loads of water-1 gallon + per day. Unless you want to go all out and eat 6x's a day with X amount of protein, fats, carbs-take a week and write down what you eat. Add up the calories and drop it 250 or so per day.

And train with weights. One muscle group once per week. The more muscle you have the more calories you'll burn.

best of luck -
aeon

It's truly pointless to give this guy fitness advice ~ there was an entire two page thread of it previously and he ignored all of it.

You can give a person the tools and show them how to properly use them, but it's on them if they start cutting off their fingers.

Yes your right I dont know you all I have to go by is what I read and without hearing a persons tone of voice what they write can be taken many different ways. My bad girl maybe I just took your comments different from what you meant. Your still bomb

I am very thankful for your advice, I did get a lot out of it. I stopped taking the shitty, Slim-Fast and now have some cereal for breakfest, something small for lunch + fruit, chicken for dinner usually, protein shake before and after workout, and rice cakes for snacks.

As for those who think that someone at 6 feet and 182 is skinny... i dunno what you are thinking... at 160 i think i would be "fit" but not im muscle training so i guess ill gain weight cause of the fact that muscle is more dense than fat.

Sorry if I made seem as if I was doing the opposite of what you suggested or that I was just ignoring it Cheshire, I really appreciate your advice.

Cheshire 01-30-2003 03:46 PM

I'm glad you're not really eating one meal a day like you'd said you were.

I'm still extremely confused as to why you got zero results after you claim you decreased your calories, ate healthy and exercised regularly for a full week. Perhaps it is your second week that will produce changes, but don't be discouraged ~ and never lose faith in your control over your physique.

And I'd reccomend adding 5 or 6 cooked egg whites to your breakfast, plus make sure you're using low or nonfat milk in your cereal.
Dump the before workout shake, there's not really any need unless it's got some energy supplements.
