Ready to move to my own dedicated host. Who's the best?? Thinking of ServerPath or Rackshack or ?

That's capped, but if you wanted it uncapped, it'd be $750 per month.

Their bandwidth is only the best Tier1 quality stuff, NO Verio or Cogent crap. PLUS their network is huge 9000mb/s which I don't think any other host can compare to that.

PLUS to top it off, the people there are great, Dave is a good man and their support is excellent.

Was thinking a little less than $500/mo right now - I'm entry level dedicated, but willing to go better than bargin basement. I just had a shared virtual host go down for four days!!!!

Does my ass hurt on that one!! Would like to go 1st teir. Can't handel a one or two man shop managing servers at a rackshack or what ever or even their own servers if they don't know what they are doing or don't realize it takes time for a change in IP address to propogate!!. On top of it all, they did not tell me the customer that they are doing this on a Friday at 5:00 EST!!! --- Had to find out the hard way!! I need a company that has the technical backup to keep it up!!!!!

When did people all of a sudden start grouping Verio with Cogent?

All of a sudden because people are selling verio for cheap its crap too?

Verio kicks ass, don't believe everything you read... clearly if you're grouping Cogent with Verio you're misinformed.

All I'm going to say is that if you're a client that uses 1mbit then it doesn't matter if your host has 100mbit or 9000mbit. All that pipe ain't gold guys.

Ahhhh, BUT it's not from the same network, so say something happens with one network, you're traffic will go through the other, so you don't get fucked, here's what they got -

6 x 1000mbps with C&W
1 x 1000mbps with Internap
1 x 1000mbps with WilTel
1 x 1000mbps with Net Access

AND they're looking at picking up Sprint before the year is over.

I guess that Verio isn't too bad, but it's not the best :)

Personally, I consider Internap some of the best bandwidth you can get....I love it. Internap goes out to pretty much every major backbone and will always route you the fastest way possible.

ServePath has got my attention - bang for the buck.... But they are a bit new and I can't find a lot of info on them. They seem to have it together. I've contacted support in the middle of the night, just for grins... I've done that to second teir hosts and got a guy out of bed once - Felt bad about that just to test support.

The right host is to F**** important. I have three different virtual shared accounts now with three different companys just so I don't lose everything all at once!! I need to move to dedicated now and consolidating them into one source will save $$$ and create a single point of failure.

I've used Verio as an ISP and they stuck to me by dropping ISDN and DSL in my area - hard to forget - too long ago and too long a story to go into...

So anyone using ServePath?

they host some huge video sites (which explains the sustained 4Gbps on their 9Gbps network).

I've known Dave and his crew for 2 years and they are solid and here to stay.

I push about 150-200Mbits with them and they rock!
