LL Cool J vs. Canibus
 

Just heard LL Cool J "Back where I belong" with Ja Rule and WHAT A FUCKING BATTLE song.....but the question I have is this...

Can someone please explain to me the basis for the whole LL/Canibus feud?

My understanding is that Canibus wanted a similar tattoo to LL's and it all blew up from there. Unfortunately, that sounds like the saddest basis for an MC battle in the history of battle rap.

LL featured Canibus on his song "4,3,2,1". While in the studio, Canibus comments to LL that he wants a tattoo like the one that LL has on his arm. The tattoo is of a microphone. During the recording, Canibus also says a rhyme that goes something like "LL, is that a mic on your arm, lemme borrow that". LL comes back with a verse that disses Canibus. Later LL asks Canibus to change the rap but Canibus refuses. LLtells him he should get something that means something to him--not a mic. Canibus gets the mic tattoo. He does another dis record on some album. LL felt disrespected. There you have the makings of a hip-hop battle.
