Donating part of profits
 

Do you any of you donate part of your profits to anything?
I was thinking of having a poll each month where my members choose a charity and then I donate like 5-10% of my profits for that month to the charity.

What do you guys think?

Just make sure you don't get problems with the Charity itself.

We had a charity drive for a home less shelter on my site 3 years ago. We collected over 500.00. When we donated it to the charity the media got wind of it and it was not nice what I went thru, because the money came from a porn site.

The charity actually didn't want to accept it after the media put them thru a wringer.

So we stopped doing it.

I guess now its easier most Charities take online payments

i don't necessarily want to do it for the profits
i just wanna do it so that i can "do my part" for the community.
maybe contribute it to something against child porn

i was gonna say abused/battered women.... but i think that would create a big disturbance in the media if word got out where the money was coming from

i regularly give to a freedom of speech/privacy charity. but i would never involve my members in that.

they get the opportunity to donate to WebPldg.org each time they sign up via ibill anyway ;)

I donate about 5% to 10% of my income to local charities. Recent years they have received many thousands of dollars from me.


and note that Ken from Hustler donates a PILE of money to charities.

I give monthly. Mostly to charities helping troubled teens and also famine relief.

Why not start a charity for all of the poor surfers that some of our mates continually rip off with deceptive Terms & Conditions, fake FREE VIP Memberships that leave the surfer signing up for an instant pay membership...and so on and so on.

I always find it ironic that a business that is built on fraud and deception finds it noble to donate to "worthy causes" when perhaps the best charity work we could do is to quit screwing thousands of individuals on a daily basis.

Hmmm...strange Quiet, but my statement was not a "blanket statement". Instead it even clarified at the bottom that some webmasters run a clean ship. And yet it is YOU that jumped in with a counter response. But on that same note, the vast majority of the sites out there...especially the big programs...are based on nothing more then boiler room techniques...there is no business skill here...just the same snake oil salesman techniques that have been used throughout the ages to con the consumer.

i don't want to give to a charity to be noble or to make my site look good. i want to do it because someone needs to do it. and if my site becomes successful, then why not spread the wealth?

And Quiet, my oh so noble honest soul...what is your URL...I trust that your site is as clean as the driven snow as you say...but I would be curious to see what links you use for sponsors or any pop-ups to outside sponsors. If you don't have any..then congrats..if you do...then I would hope that they too follow your claimed ethics...

so 49th, what have you accomplished? your sponsors lost a site that sent them 4 or 5 hits a month. i'm sure they trembled with fear and qucikly revised their policies and terms when you informed them you were going to stop promoting their sites due to their ethics.
