How many people on GFY are really into Scientology?

Seriously?

Seems like a lot more people than I would have thought based on a couple other threads I saw.

To be honest, it surprises me.

However, who am I and what the hell do I know anymore?

Theo 06-24-2005 10:47 AM

not me, but these fuckers have attempted to drag me in their events several times

I have yet to have that happen and I live in SoCal. Even when I lived in Hollywood, never happened.

Are they like Amway? They trick you into some dinner and then some rich, or in this case, enlightened cat comes out and starts talking?

Yes and NO

I had a weird thing happen to me that exposed me to Scientology
My bro will ascertain I was abducted-

So Scientologist are like Muslims? I did not realize they have been around so long.

I just didn't realize that it had spread.

Muslims are a part of our world on a much larger scale.

this is the naive thinking that makes this silly.

just because you didnt know, it now has spread?

you act as if scientology is new, far from it.

anyway, im not arguing here, just curious as to why so many get freaked about someone even admitting to have read the books.

When did it get so big? Or is Tom Cruise just bringing it to the forefront and now the sheep are herding? Is Cruise the new christ? I miss him in Risky Business.

Honestly KB, I lived in Hollywood several years, worked in clubs, never got hit up once.

Tell what happened, I am curious.

cherrylula 06-24-2005 10:56 AM

If I read the bible, will I spontaneously combust?

I did not realize Scientology was so large. Honestly, I doubt that makes me naive, but if it does, so be it. I don't care. I don't advocate for them. I would say that my mind is filled with more important items than worshipping Tom Cruise...haha

So Scientology compares to Christianity? In other words, someone that didn't realize that Scientology was herding, would (by your assesment) logically not grasp that Christianity is one of the top two religions in the world?

Haha

I love GFY.

well not to get into semantics, but being naive is "not knowing"

Usually 2-3 hot girls approach you and your friends trying to gain your interest and invite you to one of their events that every time i have checked take place in expensive hotels or clubs. Most contacts are not done randomly. They follow various events from parties to book exhibitions and from there they attempt the approach.

Well of course, then everyone is naive haha To something....

I am not a Scientology expert, but it seems as though Cole Trickle has really gave it a fuel injection recently!

Peaches 06-24-2005 11:02 AM

It's been around for less than 50 years - not exactly "long" in religious time tables.

Low blow.

Using hot chicks.

I am doomed.

If strippers start recruiting, I will not have a chance.

I heard that the Shroud of Turin is actually an impression of L. Ron Hubbard on a Vicodin high.

TheDoc 06-24-2005 11:09 AM

I kinda follow it.. From what I gather it isn't a religion but more of a belief or a way to think.

I'm more into Eckankar.. Control over the mind and understanding of life is a much more powerful thing

Honestly KB, I lived in Hollywood several years, worked in clubs, never got hit up once.

Tell what happened, I am curious.

I was in Cleveland with my brother-
we had a very successful multi level marketing business going selling pictures door to door-

One day while living in Columbus with a 45 yr old former felon ( we didn't know this) he ripped us off of all our cash-

We were selling "Black Art" at an African American show on the Ohio State University campus- ( Talk about balls! A Salaam Aleggum)

He stole $30,000 form us forcing us to have to go back home to Cleveland with our tails between our legs-

At 22 yrs of age and 20 yrs of age we had to go back to living with our mom-

She was going through a real rough time with her divorce and we felt she literally , snapped-

She threw us out of her house, and we drove around for a few days looking for places to stay. One day we were driving outside of Akron , Oh and spotted guys selling the same pics we were selling on the side of the road-

We befriended them - they seemed very cool and offered us positions selling art in other locations. The only catch was we'd have to listen to them and learn about Dianetics.

My brother was living with a German Model at the time named Astrid, and one day he decided he didn't wanna stay in the fleabag motel we were all living in and that these hippy guys were a little weird so , D decided it was in his best interest to drive back to Cleveland and stay with his girlfriend- I stayed at the roach hotel that was $20 a night. NO CAR, NO MONEY, NO NOTHING
One night they asked me if I'd like to go through the "auditing process"

They knew I had a history of taking drugs, they knew some of my family had mental illness so they figured they would try to show me how right their teachings were and that I didn't need to see a shrink or take drugs I just needed to see the world from their eyes-

One night they turned the lights off and incessantlky asked me a lot of questions about my childhood-

I had A WONDERFUL CHILDHOOD- mind you- nothing troubling at all- until my parents divorced

They kept asking me to repeat the same incident over and over againas to show me that new information would come out each time-
They were right about that-

anyway- one rainy evening my brother calls me after 10 pm on the motel's phone system- The Indian man running this "Roach Coach Motel " Would not connect him to my room-
The Scientologists I was meeting with held all my calls and my brother panicked, grabbed the biggest bounce you have ever seen from a club up in Cleveland and drove down 45 mins to get me- he felt something was wrong-

He was right. After the entire ordeal went down, I got a weird vibe from them , and wanted to get away-
Then the power went off after a huge bolt of lightning hit the telepjone pole outside-

I went running out of theh hotel into a biker bar wearing nothing but my boxer shorts and a Robert Palmer Concert T Shirt ( don't ask me why)

My bro picked me up at that bar after I called from a public phone his girlfriend Astrid -

Who literally didn't understand English very well , let alone slang...

She was HOT though.
Well Cory, that's my story

I didn't think about any of this until the night of the Players Ball about 4 yrs ago when we had Doug E Fresh come and play-
At dinner in the Venetian before his show he was talking about how he and his dad ( also tour manager) were into Scientology and that he'd invite me to an event at the Celebrity Centre in Hollywood- I asked hm what he thought of auditing and the "clear" process- he told me that was something he'd need to show me in further detail-

He also told me he was introduced to Scientology through Isaac Hayes-

Two weeks later he calls and invites me to Barbra Streisands house fo some benefit he was playing-

I got lost in Malibu that night, never found the house- and I haven't spoken to Doug E Fresh in two years-

I really should give him a call- he is a wonderful guy.
He really piqued my curiosity in the religion-

I don't know that much about it.. BUT.. Isn't a religion about following some supernatural power? I didn't know scientology followed a higher power. Already starting to sound to stupid to follow.

Oh, here. I got this right from the scientology webiste for you.

Does it cost a lot to be a member of the Church and take services?

No.

A person who donates for auditing receives one-to-one personal and effective assistance to solve problems in life, to communicate more freely with others and to handle the upsets of life preventing his true spiritual freedom. Having achieved these lower levels a parishioner moves on to more advanced levels on which he is literally seeking immortality, which is priceless.

If you got the money... they can help you SEEK immortality. Good luck with your brainwash.. I mean religion.. I mean belief.
