Disco.com Logo needed

Hello everyone !

This is Disco Stu from disco.com

After holding onto the domain for many years we have decided to finally develope it into the internet's definitive disco site.

After seeing many many designers, we finally were given a tip that hopefully, will get us going.

Use adult site designers !

We've heard your good, and we've seen some of your designs, and now we want to see what YOU think Disco.com's logo should be.

Now, we aren't logo thiefs, so feel free to put a watermark or what have you over the image, thats fine !

What we DO want to see:

Let's have it in 70's style fonts with 70's colors.
Of course, we can't forget that disco ball !
We'd like to see the ball in the logo of course, and it would really be hip if it was moving with maybe a few sparkles here and there.

Most of all , we want to see a fun logo that is instantly recognizable anywhere, and the design you do MUST be able to do 4 colors for screen printing later.

I'm sure there are some people who remmember those days, and I know someone here is still groovin to EW&F so let's see it !

Yay! Another Lawsuit!

Have you heard of a little company called "News Corporation"? They own a studio called "20th Century Fox", and a network called "Fox", which shows a pretty popular little cartoon called "The Simpsons".

"Disco Stu"... Though I guess if it doesn't appear on the site, it might not be as much of a problem. Just sounded like it was his "business" name in general, not just here.

Disco_Stu 06-10-2003 05:22 PM

Perhaps judging by the response that this might not be the place to take my business then.

I thought this was a business board, not one where people scream lawsuit over a bulletin board name. Maybe I was wrong.

The word "Disco Stu" is not trademarked by anyone, even the Simpsons. Fox does not own the Simpsons they are merely the producers that have the contract with Matt Groenig to show it on the television.

I will search elsewhere then.

Holy shit you're touchy. If you want the best of the best, this is the place to be. You're going to need a slightly thicker skin, though. Notice the logo at the top of the board?

As SpaceAce said, if you want good designers this is the board for you then. Just wait a while, you just started the thread and expect results? Patience my friend.

I feel bad. This place has really hardened me. I am just not nice anymore. It even spills over to other boards and stuff sometimes.

Last night, I had a sudden urge to dress really stupidly and go find "some bitches". What's happening to me?

I dont see any mention of payment. WHat do you want to pay for the logo you choose? Put your money where your mouth is and you will see some logos in this thread ;)

BlueDesignStudios 06-10-2003 05:41 PM

We could design you a logo.. click on the button below to view our portfolio, and email me if you're interested :)

Disco_Stu 06-10-2003 06:09 PM

We originaly purchased the domain for close to $10,000 USD.

We'd be looking to spend around $5,000 USD for a very very good and instantly recognizable trademark such as you see with Fox, Nickelodeon, Nike and so on and so forth.

What we really do NOT want to see is a million color logo, we need somthing simple yet catching to the eye, that can be reproduced on various items such as coffee mugs, tshirts, etc.

You are soo mainstream it burns, I will tell you straight up (I have never been wrong once) This idea will crash and burn.

AdultNex 06-10-2003 06:13 PM

If you want a very serious audience with professional designers, I would recommend heading over to:

www.designoutpost.com

Why bring adult designers to do a mainstream project? That puzzles me. Many of the adult designers can't design mainstream.

gothweb 06-10-2003 06:14 PM

You want a brand consultant, not a GFY designer. ;)

I concur. If you're willing to spend $5k on a logo design, I would approach an established design firm.

Is this real or another one of those handicapped weight lifter spoof threads?

detoxed 06-10-2003 06:22 PM

You could get a great logo from a good designer for less than $500.

Branding is a myth unless you are the next Nike, Coke or Pepsi. In the adult world, it's another story; branding is very viral in the adult world, it seems. Ask any guy on the street, who hasn't heard of Bang Bus?

When you're talking about the mainstream world, it's just advertising and design. Branding, in the mainstream world, is for business professors who have never been in business.

Hammer 06-10-2003 06:25 PM

The real reason you came here looking for an adult designer to do your logo is the fact that a bunch of these guys are so hungry for work that they'll submit logos to you without getting paid hoping they're logo will be picked so they can make some money.

If you are a real business person then you do it the way real businesses do and ask for portfolios, pic a designer with a style you like and pay him a percentage in advance. Then he submits designs to you and you go through the process of modifying and tweaking until you end up with what you want.

I'm so fucking tired of this bullshit of people coming on here having logo design contests and shit. When Microsoft needs a logo for a new product do they put and ad in the paper asking for designers to submit their best logos and pick the best one. Fuck no, they hire a designer and pay them a pile of money for the design.

I stand by what I said. Anyone who is already planning on spending $5k on their logo is looking for a lot more than a design. Whether they actually need it or not.

Hogwash. Branding is extremely important. Why is it that people will pay twice as much for brand name sugar as they will for the no-name brands? Branding, branding, branding. Sugar is fucking sugar, for fuck's sake.

Really, I was going to point out the extreme ignorance of his statements but you beat me to it.

"Branding is a myth". LOL.

This man is cheeeeeeap!

He started a thread in the "Charity Cases" subforum..

http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/...?s=&act=SF&f=9

He paid $10,000 for a domain.. and now he wants a logo for FREE! :1orglaugh

Disco_Stu 06-10-2003 07:37 PM

No, I just figured that since it seems like no one wants to make money for doing a design and an added site in thier portfolio, I'd see who was willing to give it a shot.

That is the person I would pay.
I know more about business then you think I do, my only mistake so far was even thinking there were people on here that were considered proffesional designers.

gothweb 06-10-2003 07:39 PM

"Nobody"? You do know that most of us aren't designers, right?
