11 More Children Die from Swine Flu THIS WEEK

Eleven more U.S. children died from H1N1 swine flu during the past week, a federal health official said Friday, adding that the disease is now so widespread it has surpassed epidemic proportions.

Don't listen to the anti-vaccination kooks on GFY. Vaccinate your kids even if you're too stupid to get yourself vaccinated.

Quagmire 10-17-2009 11:11 AM

more die from the normal flu each week. 19 children died last week from the typical flu versus 11 from H1N1.

Keep drinking that govt issued koolaid.

Never got a flu shot and rarely get the flu. Why would I risk possible side effects or death from an untested vaccine? Whats the long term possible effects from it? Will it cause any health issues 30 years from now? 11 deaths in a week?

Worldwide, the annual death toll from the flu is estimated to be between 250,000 and 500,000.

the anti-vaccination crowd is darwinism at it's finest. it wouldn't worry about it Babaganoosh. in the end, the less genetically inferior around, the better.

Agreed. I'd have to say eating well plays a role in how susceptible to actually getting sick from the flu.

beerptrol 10-17-2009 11:54 AM

I won't be getting one, I've never had a flu shot. My gf's son is high risk and gets a flu shot "booster" each year and we will be getting him the H1N1

Relentless 10-17-2009 11:54 AM

11 OUT OF HOW MANY?
And
How many of the vaccinated ones die out of how many?

Learn how odds work... then post :2 cents:

If your kids eat well, proper diet (generally means completely changing their diet for most people in North America), then they'll be very healthy and will be able to handle most of everything without extreme worry.

hahah, that's a funny statement.

So those of us with natural immune systems that aren't being damaged or altered by poisons are "genetically inferior" ?

Funny, cause I never get vaccinated, my kids are all exempt from ALL Vaccines and we're all the picture of health... in fact, H1N1 managed to get one of us, and the rest got NOTHING -

Also, don't let the media scare you, H1N1 is barely a flu, the one of us that did get it was sick for a week, barely what you'd call a flu, sore body and headaches .. and that was about it besides a fever.

Now guess what ? because we NATURALLY exposed ourselves to the virus, our bodies are building up NATURAL anti-bodies that'll fight the flu off better than any of your man made lies, and I haven't shot mercury into my blood, or risked infertility or retardation to my children ( ever meet someone made retarded by a vaccine? I have ... and I'll NEVER put any into myself, or my kids EVER.)

enjoy your Darwin theory, but just like in the 70's , I suspect more will die from the vaccine than the flu.

Agent 488 10-17-2009 12:07 PM

think it's funny that the biggest idiots in here are anti-vaccine. it says a lot.

Agent 488 10-17-2009 12:10 PM

don't take the vaccine. let nature take it's course. remove the morons from the gene pool.

directfiesta 10-17-2009 12:10 PM

wonder why , but it seems like a clear cut political division.... amazing !

iMind 10-17-2009 12:11 PM

By the way folks...

Remember that because this "vaccine" was developed in a hurry due to an "unprecedented medical emergency" even if they shoot this vaccine into us all and it kills 90% NOBODY can be held liable!

Laws have changed in the last few years, and now big pharma can get rich and never be held liable for anything ;)

LadyMischief 10-17-2009 12:26 PM

When medical professionals are actually going to court to prevent being forced to be vaccinated.. because they all believe in it sooooo strongly and know it would never hurt them and don't question it. MMmhmmmm.

The number that DO support vaccinations greatly outweighs those that don't. I know a nurse who swears that aircraft contrails are the government spraying us with chemicals to keep us sick so we keep spending money on healthcare. There are kooks in every profession...especially adult. :1orglaugh

you are 100% correct.

Agent 488 10-17-2009 12:39 PM

the real story is how the american educational system has been so gutted that the inhabitants there have regressed back to some kind of primitive state. makes them easier to manipulate i suppose.

1) That is false. You have no clue how many do or do not support vaccination. No survey has been done so you are talking out of your ass.

2) There are kooks in every profession... including the for-profit medical field. If you are a hospital administrator you see this as a financial risk evaluation. If you mandate vaccinations you can not be sued. If you don't mandate them you may be sued. So you mandate them. The issue of whether it is good or bad for the people being vaccinated is not even part of the discussion of the administrators in private hospitals. It is strictly a liability decision...

3) Nobody is arguing that people can not get the vaccine. People are saying that they should not be REQUIRED to get the vaccine. That is not the same thing. If you want to be vaccinated good for you. If someone else does not want to be, they should not be fired for taking control of their own body.

Agent 488 10-17-2009 12:44 PM

relentlessly stupid.

WRONG!

BOTH of my parents are RNs. They BOTH work on critical care floors. There is ONE nurse that my Dad works with in ICU who threw a fit about being required to be vaccinated (the one who believes aircraft contrails are the government spraying us). Nobody my Mom works with even thought twice about it.

My wife is 6 months pregnant with our first child. We were worried about her getting the flu and getting vaccinated. I've done the research. I've asked questions. The risks of getting sick far outweigh the risks of getting vaccinated. Especially for her.

Anyone who has an immune deficiency, is elderly or pregnant or parents who don't get their kids vaccinated are absolutely, positivity, unequivocally irresponsible and pants-on-head retarded.

And when 'your mom' and 'your dad' become a statistical majority of 'all health care workers' you will have a point. Until then you are clueless.

You said many more health care workers favor the vaccination than do not favor it. I said you have zero way of knowing if that is true. You replied by telling me anecdotal stories about your mother and father and a woman they work with... I explained that you do not have statistical data to back up your claim and that your mommy and daddy are not a statistical majority.

What part of that confused you? :1orglaugh

The flu shot is unnecessary, whether the regular or the H1N1.

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200911/brownlee-h1n1

Whether everyone gets it or no one gets it, the flu kills neither less nor more people than it usually does.

In 1997 (read that article in The Atlantic), they got the vaccine wrong. Despite the fact that millions were vaccinated with the wrong shot (basically meaning nobody on Earth got a flu shot that year), no more people died, and some say less people died.

Over here doctors are refusing to administer the vaccine because of the potential side-effects...

I have the statistical data of two major hospitals unless you think that my parents each singlehandedly run those units. The fact that only one nurse from both floors combined had an issue with it makes it more than a statistical anomaly.

Show proof that healthcare professionals are refusing the vaccination en masse or kindly shut your yap.

The last sentence is taken care of by you pansy little cunts who run and take pills and medicine for every little sniffle because you DON'T let nature take its course.

You are more likely to get H1N1 if you've been getting flu shots, moron.

To amuse you I called my folks and asked how many nurses work on their floors total. 52 at one hospital (RNs only on that floor), 186 at the other (the 186 accounts for RNs, LPNs and CNAs). There were ZERO refusals to comply with the mandatory vaccinations.

So, of 238 healthcare professionals, 0 refused to be vaccinated.

A beautiful article. Rarely have I seen journalists contradict themselves so incredibly clearly.

When trying to discount the effects of the vaccine on the elderly, they say this:

Quote:

Studies show that young, healthy people mount a glorious immune response to seasonal flu vaccine, and their response reduces their chances of getting the flu and may lessen the severity of symptoms if they do get it.
And a page and a half later, they conclude as follows:

Quote:

All of which leaves open the question of what people should do when faced with a decision about whether to get themselves and their families vaccinated. There is little immediate danger from getting a seasonal flu shot, aside from a sore arm and mild flu-like symptoms. The safety of the swine flu vaccine remains to be seen. In the absence of better evidence, vaccines and antivirals must be viewed as only partial and uncertain defenses against the flu. And they may be mere talismans. By being afraid to do the proper studies now, we may be condemning ourselves to using treatments based on illusion and faith rather than sound science.
Wait... what? Flu vaccines may be mere talismans? Didn't the article just state that at the very least, young, healthy people are in fact protected to some extent by flu vaccines?

That said, I'm all for doing more studies. The more the better - if only to see which types of a vaccine against a specific disease have the best results. Still, it would be nice if journalists could at least be consistent in their articles.

Take a little more time and read the whole thing through. She's not contradicting herself... her research is pristine.
