an interesting point
One of the European Unions commissioners made an interesting point about the attacks on the US today
He said that arrogant behavior tends to cause a lot of hate.......... After reading most of the posts on this board about the attack I thought that this applies very much |
There are two sides to everything. Without hate, there can be no love. If someone is arrogant, feel free to hate them. Hell, you can hate someone for whatever reason you want. Nothing wrong with a little hate.
Doesn't justify slaughtering thousands. |
What he was referring to was the arrogant US foreign policy in the past decades.
Didn't cause a lot of joy around the world... There is a reason that the US is the most hated nation in the world. Personally I don't have a problem with the US. I love it. I lived there for more than 1 year. But I can see why especcially Muslims hate the US. The arab nations have been fucked over and over again... |

|
I guess a lot of guys on this board would like to get rid of all muslims..
I also feel that I'm not at all responsible for what my grandfather did more than half a century ago. I condemm it but I don't feel responsible |
What did your grandfather do?
|
I was referring to the generation of my grandfathers
|
Okay.... what did they do?
|
Atleast holocaust denial is a crime in Germany.
Its kind of like our generations not being responsible for slavery. |
Meister, if you're talkin' about the holocaust, you're right. You're not responsible. Same as I'm not responsible for a bunch of assholes that kept slaves.
But what does this have to do with arrogance? |
The reason I made this post was that I saw some posts from grown up people (I guess they are grown up) wanting to a-bomb Afghanistan.
What do you think this would be? A crime agains humanity ... YES the start of a new world war ... YES stat sponsored terrorism ... YES Even if they just sent ground troops. What will they achieve? Maybe they will capture bin Laden after months or years of fighting. One should never forget what the sovjets faced in Afghanistan. I saw several sovjet generals on television lately that said that no nation will be able to win a war in Afghanistan |

Fuck that. |
All I'm saying is that if they invade Afghanistan it will be like Vietnam all over again. You can't win a war against fanatics that know every square inch of their country.
Do you really think that terrorism is gonna stop after they capture bin laden and other top terrorists? I believe that their will be 10 more terrorists for everyone you kill. Do you seriously think that there won't be even more terrorist attacks? If they attack Afghanistan or other countrys they will loose all the support they have right now in the muslim world. Putting pressure on Isreal and Arraffat would do a lot more than trying to kill all terrorists. They have millions of potential suicide killers over there. To resolve this permanently you've got the eliminate the cause of the evil not its symptoms! |

very funny
do you think h-bombing afghanistan would solve the problem? |
Quote:
Oh sure, there might be some left over... but honestly... who would fucking dare try terrorist shit again after that? Knowing what they can expect in return. |
doing that would make you not better than the terrorists.
I don't think that it would make the US very popular around the world. This kind of attitude cause the attack on the WTC.... |
Don't confuse arrogance with confidence.

Hey guys, what the hell is all the bullshit about H-bombing!
U ever heard of Chernobyl? U ever seen it? U ever were there? |
Yeah... so? Chernobyl was a fuck up. Not a planned retaliation.
|
kimmykim
I'm sure America was confident they'd win in Vietnam until they lost I'm sure they were confident the the Shah of Persia(today Iran) would be in power forever until Khomeni took over After that they were very confident that Saddam Hussein would be a friend forever (they supported Iraq after Khomeni took over) Sometimes there is just no reason to be confident. And this is one of those times. Fighting a war in terrain like Afghanistan against people that would gladly sacrifice their lives is crazy. It's just impossible to win. |
and a planned retaliation would cause less radioactivity than a fuck up?
|
It doesnt mater if it was a fuck up or anything else. Just realize what will happen with if they h-bomb the terretory like this one
|
Nothing is impossible. I think we've been shown that last week.

Don't mistake the confidence of the government with the confidence of the people.
A nation divided is one thing, a nation attacked at its' core by a group of two bit terrorists is another thing entirely. |
so what do you think will happen after they capture bin laden?
Do you think all the muslims will just walk away and say: "Alright! We loose you win. Lets be friends" What you will achieve with attacks are millions of pissed muslims. And millions that would do anything to destroy America. |

When is it enough for you? When they slaughter every last person in the world? Is that when we should start thinking about doing something? By then it's too fucking late. |
What you will achieve with attacks are millions of pissed muslims. And millions that would do anything to destroy America.
------------------------------------ I guess we will have to destroy them first |

It shows us just how devistating it can be in an area and for how long. What do you think we should do with those that manage to survive afterwards. Its not like they could live on their already devistated land. |

Comparing a power plant disaster with deliberately dropping a bomb on someone isn't really a good comparison.
America had Three Mile Island way before Chernobyl so it's not like we've been immune to that sort of thing. |

are you really serious about h-bombing the whole region? I just can't believe that a intelligent human beeing would believe something like that |
I think you already know the answer to that.
